"I am Mernhu Soower, and this is Newsbright," the Ithorian reporter speaks in a slow, deep voice.
"Police of Dewbright currently have no answer in regards to the influx of reports of missing people. Local voices and newly formed groups calling themselves Defenders of Dewbright are casting blame to the insectoid creatures identified as a sub-group of the Killiki Alderaanis, or more commonly known as Killiks. The group identified as a hive was first officially sighted 34 days ago, but theories suggest they may have been here longer. The police have declined to release information on when the surge of missing reports begun, stating it is sensitive information," Mernhu drones on.
He makes a few thoughtful ho-hums before continuing.
"The referendum on Abolition of Gambling will take place in two days time. It was brought forth by a coalition of the Sh'd Aquarium curators, Crystal Research Station, Dewbright University, Square Sea Conservation Society, and Citizen League of Dewbright. Their stance is mostly refering to the studies that draws from the increase of littering in areas of Dewbright that cater more to travelers, indicating that gambling is a key factor in reduced awareness along with alcohol consumption. The Citizen League of Dewbright have also expressed concern in increased violence and crime in areas that cater to high-stakes games, though the League is currently divided on the subject, as they are also contesting the referendum along with Auratera Tourism Bureau, the Merchant Guild, and the Auratera Space And Traffic Board. The opposition's concern is for the many who make a living running perfectly respectable and legal establishments to earn their livelihood, as well for the economy of Dewbright if such popular past-times such as Sabac and Pazaak were to become illegal within the city."
Mernhu sighs deeply as he finishes his segment. "That is it for the news. The sound of Auratera will be with you until we return."
Music occupies the channel for the next hour, until the weather report.
