For The Fans (D3, Early Afternoon)

#1 Postby Faily » Mon Jan 21, 2019 12:35 am

It was easy to find the hotel where FrouShyyyk was staying, since there was a group of rabid fans outside of it. At least Security Forces had set up some fences to keep the fan-squealing contained. For now.

A pair of security guards checked the ID of all those trying to gain entry, and checking it against their database.

Silas hadn't really expected to make it into the final selection. His entry had been more or less on a whim, it had seemed fun so he had done it. Still, there really wasnt any backing out now, so putting on some of his better casual clothes he made his way to the hotel he was told the band was staying at.

The large group of fans was another deterrent, but after a deep breath to steady his nerves the young man stepped forward. "Hi!" He offered somewhat nervously as he presented his I.D. to one of the guards. "They said I was supposed to come here?"

The security man, a tall human in a black suit with dark shades, carefully scanned Silas' ID before checking it on their list. "You're free to go in, sir. Please refrain from recording inside. Opportunity for pictures will be at the end of the session." He said sternly even if it also sounded like he had repeated that line several times already.

Once ushered into the lobby of the hotel, it was a completely different sight than the Jedi temple. Sure, there were some pretty nice things there too, but this hotel lobby seemed like the seat of luxury in comparison, with gorgeous Alderaanian rugs on the floor, decorative vases in Onderonian style, and tall mirrors reaching from floor to ceiling. Everything was cast in an almost golden light too from the lighting they had set up.

It wasn't hard to see the signs directing him to one of the conference rooms that had been opened up for the occassion, and he could see the other hopeful semi-finalists gathered there too outside the door, waiting for them to open once everyone was there. Most of them seemed to be his age, with a couple who were younger or older.

Silas tried not to gape at the ostentatious surroundings, it was quite hard though as he was far more used to more subdued decor.

Making his way over to the others in the waiting group he offered a smile to them. "Hello." Silas said softly, trying not to fidget with nervousness and subdued excitement. There was going to be a opportunity for pictures? How cool was that.

The others looked over at him. Some going right back to ignoring him and the others, and some others murmured hellos and gave smiles and waves.

"You're one of the finalists too, huh?" asked a Zabrak lad around the same age as Silas.

"Uh, huh." Silas replied with a smile. "I didn't think I would make it this far, but it's pretty cool that I did!" Pretty darn cool indeed in his opinion. This was followed around by a glance at the group. "Have you been waiting here long?"

"I've been here 20 minutes," one piped up.
"Same."
"15 for me."

As if on cue, another suits-person with shades on approached the group while taking a doublecheck on a datapad while speaking into a comm-device. "That is everyone."

It took a couple of seconds, but the doors into the conferance hall opened, and four members of FrouShyyyk were sitting on the other side of a fancy table, with a handful of bodyguards and what was probably their manager standing with them. The manager turned to the arrivals and cranked up his flamboyancy.

"Alright! Welcome welcome welcome, finalists! Woo! So great to have you all here!" he gestured to the chairs lined up in a row before the table. "Sit down! Have something to drink!"

Silas blinked, were all managers that weird? Or just this one? Still he only hesitated for a moment before moving to one of the empty chairs and taking a seat. No reason to hesitate! Right?

Drinks had been offered but he hadn't bothered to look where they might be kept. Maybe there would be a waiter? Either way he wasn't even sure if he wanted anything, he might get nervous and spill it, and he had to try and concentrate on not staring at the four cute members of Forushyyk as well.

The others too exchanged some weird glances at the rather hyper manager, and gingerly sat themselves down. Refreshements were served by the hotel's staff, serving soda, water, or hot coffee depending on preferences.

"Alright! Congratulations to all of you! A big round of applause!" He began to applaud enthusiasticly and the members of the group joined in kind of awkwardly along with him. Seemed even they thought he was a bit weird.

The lead of FrouShyyyk, Saki, decided to speak up, to cut off any further embarrassing exclamations from the Manager. "Everyone, thank you so much for your contributions and for coming here today at such short notice. Really, we're all really impressed by how well you guys did too!" She gave a big grin and thumbs up to the gathered ones. "We're going to be looking over your designs again today, to make a final decision and each entry here will be published on our fanpage. The winning design will be our theme for the Core Worlds tour, but runner-ups will also get featured in a music video!"

Coffee was super bitter, so after some debate Silas decided that a soda wouldn't hurt after all. Though they didnt have Valley Nectar, which kinda sucked.

They manager might be a bit weird, but at least he was entertaining, and he couldn't help but smile at the mans antics. Moments later his attention was drawn to Saki though as she spoke. Not sure if he was supposed to speak up he glanced around the table, wondering if other people were as nervous as he felt.

Still the young man did manage to speak up after a moment. "Um, how many runner's up are there? If you dont mind he asking, Miss Saki."

"Three runner-ups!" one of the main singers, Cherrie, said cheerfully.

Image

"We'll start over on this side," Lily pointed to the left, "and move our way down to the right!"

And so began the process of each person stepping forward, announcing their name, and presenting their design directly for the panel to be met with ooo's and aaa's and compliments, and getting a few questions and answers back and forth.

About half-way, it was Silas' turn!

They were supposed to do a presentation? He hadn't been expecting that, still he observed the others as they went, perhaps trying to get a few pointers. When it was his turn, he stood up, resisting the urge to fiddle with his cup of cola, and stepped forward.

"Uh, Hi I'm Silas Pearson, and I have to admit I'm pretty bad at this presentation stuff, I've never done it before." This fact was followed by a rather sheepish smile, before he continued. "I'll do my best though."

"So this is my design here." He pulled up his entry on the main screen in the room.

Image

"I used bits of old Republic uniforms as the basis for the design. I thought with a lot of the songs the girls sing being about the glory of the Republic it would be a good fit. I also figured it would let each girl customize her own look to a degree. There is a whole treasure grove of old uniform samples, and this is just a example of a few I thought of."

"Oh! Snazzy!" exclaimed Saki.

Image

"Those shorty-shorts are soooo cute~," Cherrie complimented with a girlish squeal.

Image

"That's really cool!" Lily beamed. "And such a good thought too!"

Image

"Hmmm... I like it, but," June hesitated a bit. She was rarely the one to speak the most, "I would like it more flashy."

"Aww, you're such a hard critic, June-bug!" Lily giggled and nudged her fellow singer.

"That's really clever though, to think about reusing old outfits!" Cherrie remarked as she looked at Silas. "Were you inspired by those Captain Alderaan promotionals, perhaps?"

"Flashy." Silas paused thoughtfully. "I hadn't considered that, I went with colors that were a bit more subdued because I thought they would complement the wook rock parts of your music though."

"There are brighter colors available, and jewelry and various other accessories could be added for a bit more flash?" He seemed to be talking to himself as much as the girls and his hand reached for his datapad like he was going to start working on it.

The next question had him stop though. "Yeah." He flashed a toothy grin at. Cherries. "It seemed like a possibility that you might do some sort of promotional together at some point, so I tried to take that into account too."

"Hah, that's a great idea. Have Captain Alderaan sing and dance on stage with us," Saki snickered with a wide grin.

"Oh! That was a neat idea, to use the colors with thought about the Wook-part!" Lily smiled brilliantly too. "Very clever!"

Cherrie gave a friendly smile too. "That's really great. Are you perhaps considering enlisting too after those ads?" she giggled, and the other girls joined in.

"Can Captain Alderaan even dance though?" Silas asked more then a little curious. Not that it really mattered it would be cool.

The compliments kept the smile glued to his lips, it was great being complimented by cute girls. The final question caused a small frown to create his lips though. "Ah, no. I'm leaving Coruscant tomorrow for training, and I'm not sure how long I might be gone."

"Training, huh?" June seemed a little surprised and somewhat curious of what training that was.

"Well, we wish you the best of luck with your training! I'm sure you'll do great," Cherrie followed up in an encouraging tone.

"Thank you very much for your time and effort, mr. Pearson!" Lily continued to beam like a ray of sunshine with her smiles. It was time to move on to the remaining contestants to showcase and briefly chat with before announcing a winner and the runner-ups.

"Thanks." Was the reply with a bright smile, though he didnt get any more into what his training was.

Moments later hehis seat to wait for the others to do their presentations. His nervousness for the most part had disappeared, it was cool enough to make it to the final twenty five after all.

The same procedure continued down to the end, and the girls were positive and friendly to everyone and showering them with kind praise. A new round of refreshements were given to those in need, and the FrouShyyyk girls started to talk a bit amongst themselves about a decision.

But not everyone at once, so there was at least one of the members spending time with the fans all the time along with the manager.

Image

"Alright! Pictures!"

Image

Cherrie giggled sweetly. "Yes! Let's take some pictures everyone! I'm so happy to have met all you talented folks - really, it's so great!"

Pictures! That was probably what he had been looking forward to most. Well, probably. Pictures weren't quite as cool as seeing people in his outfits. Which reminded him he needed to make something for Zanja.

Still he stood up and got in line for the pictures, though this also was a bit of a foreign concept to him. Still he pulled out his datapad, it should be able to take some decent ones, he just had to adjust the settings for the lighting.

It also gave him a chance to figure out from the others what he needed to do.
