In Search of the Future (D1 ME) (Open)

The chamber was vast.

A stone wall rose up, part of the mountain upon which the temple was founded. She could feel the cool rock, the mineral veins, the imposing power of it all.

Or at least there was an awareness of something ancient. Maybe she really was sensing the whole ediface, or maybe it was her imagination. Either way, she focused on shutting out her surface thoughts and feeling the force that bound them all together.

Cross-legged in the middle of the chamber she sought calm, clarity, the future.

Day 1. ME. Foresee. What does the future bring?: 1eF 1 Light Side

There was a familiar tug in her tendrils as the light side rose to meet her. She started to see... Something!

The light gave way quickly to darkness.

Zizzy could sense someone. Someone young. Someone afraid. There was darkness all around. The image of a sun suddenly came to mind, but its light was muted, fading quickly to blackness.

There was music nearby. People laughing. The clatter of glassware. The smell of deathsticks. A strange rattle, not unpleasant, like the sound of a bike wheel with a card stuck in it.

And just as darkness gave way to light, fear gave way to hope. It wasn't too late. It was vague, but there was a sense of place, somewhere here on Coruscant. And of help on the way.

The visions faded.

As the vision faded she opened her eyes but remained seated in a meditative pose for a little longer. A faded sun. Some sort of busy club. A lost child.

"A faded sun? Darkened sun? Oh oh, Black Sun! The Black Sun sector. That's where you are, whoever you are."

She stood slowly, wondering how long the vision had actually lasted. Who would know about clubs and Black Sun? She could ask the other trainees, and the Masters if the others didn't know.

Soft of step, Eir approached the room and peeked inside. The vast chamber was intimidating, and Eir's whispered voice barely carried across the room, "oh, hi Zizzy," she didn't know the mikkian well, but Eir enjoyed reading, and they had likely crossed paths in the archives a few times.

She stretched and turned towards the familiar voice, tendrils swirling. "Eir! Hi! Are you here to talk to the force too? Well... Let it show you things anyway."

With a smile she started to walk towards the smaller trainee. "This is one of my favourite places in the temple. Well, other than the archives of course."

“Sorta, yeah,” she admitted, “my head’s all full up of thoughts, I thought I could use some quiet time.” Tilting her head slightly, “do you... see things?”

"Yes. I see all sorts of things. And feel them. It's hard to describe to someone with no tendrils. Or maybe I'm just not good at it." She laughed.

"So. Are you thinking about the tests?"

Eir huffed, “the tests, and lots of things. I wish the Force would show me things, it’s so hard knowing what I am supposed to do sometimes.”

She nodded in response, tendrils dancing. "I see. Well the thing is that when the force shows you things it isn't really a 'you should do this' kind of thing."

Approaching more closely she gave Eir a sympathetic smile. "It's more like: here's a thing that might happen if you do or don't do something. Then you have to decide how to deal with it. I'm getting better at it now, at least, I think."

Eir's smile was wry and unconvincing, watching the way Zizzy's tendrils floated almost like being underwater. The girl looked around, as if fearful of being overheard, before slumping slightly. "My head is so noisy right now. What's it like?"

"Hmm. That's a good question." She touched her lower lip with a finger. "It's kind of like being in a dream. A waking dream, but the sensations are more real. You're just a passenger, and it's full of metaphor, like the force is trying to show you something, but doesn't want it to be too easy."

Her tendrils had mostly settled down by now. "Would you like to meditate with me? Or we could explore a bit? There's hardly anyone down here right now."

She had come to meditate, but her glowing eyes sparkled a bit when Zizzy suggested exploring. "Well, a good Jedi is familiar with the surroundings and always seeks new knowledge," she was trying to sound wise, but her excitement bled through.

"So wise!" She smiled and started to walk towards the mountain and the many caves and walkways. "Let's investigate, I think you could spend a month just finding all the rooms in this section."

Eir fell in beside Zizzy, taking a deep breath and trying to extend her sense of the Force outwards around the pair.

Zizzy enjoyed the feeling of company and the coolness coming off the surfaces. They walked closer to the mountain and she marveled at it.

"So. It's the combat trial tomorrow." She looked thoughtful. "It's that a good one for you Eir?"

Eir dropped her head to one side, reaching out a hand and letting it brush along the wall as they walked, “it’s not great, but I got some practice in today, if Master Orgus doesn’t go too hard on me, I should be okay. Are you worried?”

Zizzy was going to brazen it out but changed her mind. "Well... It's probably the hardest trial for me. My skills are a little more, ah, esoteric."

She scrunched her face up a bit. "I mean, not all Jedi are expert duelists, right? So I can still be a Padawan and just, really work on my skills until they're sharper. Right?"

Smiling, “not everything’s about lightsabers. I don’t think the keepers of the archives use them a whole lot. Besides,” she added with a sort of careless confidence, “it’s not like combat is the only thing we’ll be tested on. You’ll shine in your own way.”

She did seem to perk up at Eir's suggestion. "Yes. I guess you're right. I do have lots of other skills that are useful. Thanks Eir, I'll just do my best and hope the next test is more my style."

As they walked through the chambers there was an immense sense of calm and stability. It was why she loved coming here.

"What about you, are you worried about any of the tests? I've seen you sparring, you'll do great in the combat exam."

"I mean, apart from being kinda nervous about the whole thing," Eir shrugged uncertainly. "I'm a bit worried about these planets we're supposed to be going to. I don't know how well I'm going to do with the cold."
