Jedi Academy

O'vala thumbed through the archives and did not know where to start. There were so many things that she didn't know and studying was supposed to be good. "The masters said it was good to read but I wonder if there are any holovids I can watch instead..."

A large pile of books on a floating trolley turned out to have a Mikkian behind it. Frond-like tendrils swirled as she stood up and walked over, a slim tome in one hand and a friendly smile on her face. "Oh hey, maybe I can help? What did you want to study? Are you revising for the tests too? I'm Zizzy, I think we met last year."

"Woah woah, oh hey, uh," O'vala said. She then nodded. "Zizzy! Yes, I'm O'vala. Maybe you already knew that? It's okay if you forgot, I guess. Totally understandable."

The miralian looked back at the books. "Oh, maybe it'd be better if I didn't vocalize my thoughts. Just like that. As for what I'm looking for, gosh, I dunno. I just think that we're supposed to study something."

"Right! O'vala. I like your tattoos." She walked up to the Mirialan and looked at the archive she was thumbing through. They were about the same height, though only because the Mikkian's tendrils added several inches.

"Well... You should probably know something about the history of the Jedi order. Maybe start with Master Vodo Sios-Baask's annotated holo-history?"

"And I like your tendril things!" O'vala then smiled sheepishly at her awkward comment.

"Vodo See Box? Who?"

"Thanks!" She lied a little startled at the mispronounced name.

"Er, here, let me show you." Zizzy flicked through the library archive until she found it. When she hit 'play' the image of a large shelled alien appeared.

O'vala peered at the image. "What sort of species is he?"

"Good question! He's a Krevaaki, and I only know that because I read about him ages ago in this other book about past Jedi Masters. I've never seen another one, not even on Coruscant, so they must be quite rare."

"What if they're, like, not around anymore? That would be pretty sad."

"Hmm." A frown crossed her face. "Maybe we can find out? There's a huge Xenobiology section in the archives!" She seemed really pleased by the idea of investigating.

"Oh, uh, sure! Learning new things is good!" She started jogging off but then came back. "Where is it?"

With a grin she pointed in the opposite direction to where O'vala had been running. "This way, follow me. So, are you excited about the trials? I wonder what they'll ask us to do? Lightsaber skills obviously. Probably something about using the force..."

"Oh." O'vala followed along with her hands stiff at her side, rather embarrassed. "Uh, probably some history stuff. Maybe camping? Oh no, I don't know how to do that... Oh, maybe diplomacy? Piloting? Wow, Jedi need to be able to do a lot."

"Oh right, diplomacy. Yeah, probably. Well I guess we can't all be good at everything, right? We all bring our own skills to the order." She hoped there would be some history and camping tests. "Not sure I would trust myself to pilot a ship, but finding things and looking up stuff in the library? Those I can do! What about you O'vala?"

"You hear so many stories though about Jedi who are able to do, like, everything. It's a lot of pressure." O'vala thought long on Zizzy's question. What could she even do? "Oh, I think I was told that I show promise in Ataru. And I know how to pilot."

"Oh wow, Ataru looks amazing! I tried to copy this holo of Thy Yulani but she was like, super fast and light on her feet, and I fell on my face." She shook her head. "Maybe I can watch you sparring one of these days?"

"Ouch. Face planting does happen sometimes, but it's a bit less for me now." O'vala patted the training saber on her waist. "I could show you now, if you like. Oh, but there're all these things. The archives is like the one place I don't try to flip around."

"Yeah, maybe let's not practice in the archives. But I'd love to train with you! I... really need the practice." She looked a bit sheepish but then speed what they had been looking for.

"Hey, here's the Xenobiology section!"

"Okay! We'll figure it out, or something. Call me, message me, whatever."

O'vala looked at the archive and narrowed her eyes. "Now what?"

"Sure, that sounds swell!" She giggled as O'vala glared at the archive.

"Well I guess we look for Krevaaki. They've got to be in here somewhere." She took off down the stacks to see what she could find. Zizzy wasn't a Xenobiologist, but she was good at finding things. It didn't take too much digging. "Ooh, here!"
