[D2 EE] Shake it Off

[Eir]

Eir stepped out of the refresher. She probably should have changed immediately after the combat trial but, at the time, she was hungry and still too energetic following her bout with Master Orgus. Finding herself at loose ends for the evening, the half-arkanian flopped onto her bed and pulled out her datapad, queuing up the latest episode of Vera Hawke: Jedi Knight, turning up the volume as the intro theme began to play.

Taime had returned to the room immediately after the trial, showered and promptly hid in his bed. He made no movements when Eir came in, pretending to be asleep.

[Eir]

When Taime didn't react to her putting on Vera Hawke, Eir shut off the datapad and looked over at the nagai. "You're sulking. Why are you sulking?"

[Taime Jorel]

He made a bleary sounding noise. "Not sulking. Sleeping. Til you turned that on."

[Eir]

"I know when you're asleep, and you're not fooling me that easily." Eir pushed herself up into a sitting position, "wanna talk about it?"

[Taime Jorel]

He rolled over, covering his face with the blanket and putting his pillow over his head.

[Eir]

“Okay, don’t talk then.” Eir’s rolled her eyes and leaned against the wall. “So you know Mir? the farghul? Well he’s only been here for four years. Four!” The girl isolated a strand of hair, twisting it between her fingers. “He asked me today what it felt like to feel the Force. I didn’t even know what to say. That’s like asking what it feels like the breath. Sure, I can hold my breath, and I can’t really describe how that feels, but that’s a feeling, suffocating. The breathing part, that, you know, that doesn’t feel like anything.”

[Taime Jorel]

Interested despite himself, he peeked out from under the pillow. "You're more sensitive to it than I am, I think. Sometimes, it still feels like holding a sword that's too big for me. Keep worrying I'll mess it up." Then, realizing he broke his little vow of silence, he darted back under the pillow.

[Eir]

"Okay," Eir admitted, "so there's some difference between knowing the Force is there, and sensing something," she was now absently braiding that strand of hair. "But it's like the difference between seeing and looking. Sometimes, you can look and look and look and still miss an important detail, but it's still there, you know? You have sight," she shrugged, it was the best she could manage.

"He was a slave before that. Didn't know what the Force was four years ago."

[Taime Jorel]

He finally comes back out from under the pillow. "I hear what you're saying. Its just so confusing to me. I'm glad its your power and not mine. I don't know what I'd do with it."

He sat up. "He was a slave? That still happens? That's horrible!"

[Eir]

Eir nodded, "he has some... interesting ideas about his old slave masters meeting unfortunate fates, and I'm not sure I have good arguments against them."
