[D0 A] Emotion, yet Peace

[Eir]

“I’m still stuck back in form three, guess I wasn’t good enough for five,” a bitter edge crept into the girl’s voice.

[Mir]

"Eh." Mir interjected. "If that was the case we'd all aspire to be juyo masters." Seeing how some masters frowned upon the reckless seventh form was not the case. "Different styles for different people. Third's good if you don't want to get shot." a pause. "I don't want to get shot, really. "

[Eir]

Eir knew the ordering of the forms wasn’t ranked, though it did still bother her sometimes that Soresu seemed like such a limited technique at times. “Sure, everyone likes not getting shot,” she shrugged, “but I bet it’s pretty satisfying laying the smack down on your opponent instead of just battling them to an impasse.”

[Mir]

"Isn't it." Mir nodded in agreement, his ears flopping onward as he did so. "Peace cannot be upkept with kind words only. There is always someone who thinks they are free to do whatever they please." the young jedi-to-be glanced in the direction of the city. The people here did not know how hard life could be. There was an aura of arrogance and sorrow around him.

[Eir]

The talk of shooting drew Eir’s attention to the weapon Mir carried, and it made her uneasy. Her right hand moved to rest on her thigh, just a twitch away from the training lightsaber she had clipped to her belt.

[Mir]

"Not that that should come up in the trials. I really can't image them shooting at us just to see if we are quick on our feet." he was looking away from her, his gaze focusing somewhere within the city.

[Eir]

“I wouldn’t be so sure of that,” Eir had been dealt her fair share of painful, but harmless, zaps from the training remotes as she learned to deflect them. Even now, with almost a decade of practice under her obi, they still occasionally got through.

[Mir]

"Hmm? The order has been very kind to us Eir. I cannot see them wilfully risking our lives."

[Eir]

"Of course not," she rolled her eyes, "that's why our training sabers can't slice through a wet tissue. But I fully expect that they'll be upping the stakes. Training remotes sting, but a blaster could knock you out cold if set to stun."

[Mir]

"Uh... I guess." he huffed. "Have you asked any of them about their trials?" Mir glanced back at the tower.

[Eir]

Eir shook her head, a loose curl falling over her brow, “This all came as a bit of a surprise, I hadn’t even thought about the trials until they told me I’d been put forward.” Taime had been put forward for the trials this year and, though she was younger and less experienced, she figured it made a good excuse to hurry her out of their hair.

[Mir]

"Me neither. I mean, I figured they'd happen at some point but I haven't been here that long." he glanced in her direction, a pang of envy washing over him. "Have you talked with others? Who we had. Taime and Zizzy, O'vala, Zanja and then all those humans. Uh... the pale guy and the dark guy and then the other dark guy. Byron."

[Eir]

“All those humans?” Eir raised her eyebrows, she forgot sometimes that her eyes and claws marked her heritage, and tended to lump herself in with the ‘generic people’. “I’m rooming with Taime, we’ve got,” she vacillated a moment, “history.” She paused before adding, “I haven’t had a lot of common ground with the others, until now.”

[Mir]

"History eh." Not that Mir entirely understood what Eir meant. "The two look the same. Byron and... Ares." He shrugged nonchalantly. "I guess one of them has more head fur. Hair." He corrected himself.

"I have not talked with anyone yet. Well, except you." Mir added sheepishly. "I feel like the others are more ready than I am."

[Eir]

"The others have had more time to prepare, I guess." Eir knew first-hand how nervous Taime was, and how nervous she was, "I don't think anyone's feeling particularly calm about it. But as Jedi we are taught to still the storms of our emotions so that we might hear the guidance of the Force." In other words, everyone was putting on a brave face.

[Mir]

"Chaos, yet harmony." Mir quoted the Jedi code as it had been taught to him. "Either way, I will succeed. There is no other way." within his robes his tail wooshed few times with determination. "If they think I am ready, I must be pretty good." he flashed her a smile - or what would have been smile to an another farghul. Eir likely only saw Mir squint his eyes. "Same goes for you. All of us."

[Eir]

Eir narrowed her eyes are the farghul, not in response to his expression, but to his words, "you're pretty confident. How do you know they're not trying to get rid of you?" Eir would have agreed that failure was not possible, but she believed so for a different reason. If you weren't 'good enough' to be a padawan, they found something else for you.

[Mir]

Mir swallowed and paused. "But why would they? Why drag me all the way here just to get rid of me?" then he realized what she meant. Or thought he realized what she meant. Ears twitched nervously before slanting to the sides. "I don't think I've upset anyone to warrant that. I hope at least. You think they'd do something like that? Push us to trials too soon just to kick us out?"

[Eir]

Shrugging nonchalantly, “they cant keep us at the Temple forever. Pretty much once you’re sixteen, it’s time to move out and make room for the new kids.”

[Mir]

"But still. You'd think they'd want everyone to succeed, no?" the idea that the masters might want some of them to fail seemed alien to the farghul.
