[D9 ME] Half Jill/Half Jack
Eir had gotten caught up in in preparations for the following day’s quest into the crystal caves, and it had gotten late without her realising. She was munching on a nutrient bar as she rambled idly through the temple. She’d explored a bit the day before, and was more stretching her legs and admiring the architecture than anything else, she supposed she’d eventually find her way to the meditation chamber and spend some time centering herself before trying to sleep.

The masters had been telling him to focus on finding inner peace in constructing his new lightsaber, and so he took a break from the mechanical aspect to meditate instead.
At least the cold made sure he didn't get too comfortable, even if it was warmer inside the Jedi Temple, but he still shifted restlessly on his knees in the meditation chamber.

Byron took a break from his own crafting to get some inspiration and not spend all day focused on crafting a lightsaber. He saw his old buddy Kerren and approached and took a meditative lotus position.
He nodded to the Jedi to be but did not try and disturb him.

Seeing Kerren’s restlessness, Eir tried to catch the pureblood’s eye and indicated with a nod to step outside the chamber with her, if he wished.

Byron broke the so-called silence and gestured for her to join them, “Perhaps you wish to join us, it does not seem any of us in the right mood to find inner-peace.”

Eir's lips pressed into a thin line, she wasn't particularly interested in shooting the breeze with Byron, who had been prickly since leaving Auratera. "Thanks, but other people may still want to use the chamber."

“We are practically the only people here besides the guardians, if someone comes in then sure but it’s a little light on Jedi. Besides it’s not like we ever get to chat all that often, and I was looking to speak with Kerren,” he said honestly.
“Seems like the best opportunity to remedy such matters.”

"Then, by all means speak to him," her answer was calm, though she didn't understand what Byron had been waiting for, if he'd wanted the pureblood's attention. "Kerren," she greeted the young man politely, and turned to continue her walk.

“Join us then, there seems to be some kind of conflict here between us and I am not sure why. I have only ever been kind to you, that I can recall and yet you seem annoyed. We are bound by the Jedi Order there does not need to be conflict. Maybe we just don’t understand each other,” he offered calmly.
“I know some days I don’t always understand myself.”

Eir turned back with a sigh, "Byron, I've been annoyed at you once, for sticking your nose where it didn't belong," she referred back to the class when Master Jaric had invited them to assist him with the other younglings. "If I don't sing your praises, it is through indifference, not dislike."

Kerren opened his eyes as he listened to the discussion going on, but seeing there was something going on between the two Jedi-students, he chose not to speak yet.
Though he had come to learn by now at least that the likelihood for violence was low in this group.

“It seemed more personal than that and really that was just a mistake I had not realized you were there as an assistant I am not always up to date on all things Eir. It was an honest mistake and one I did not press if I recall and yet I still sense an issue,” he replied.
“Sing my praises,” he chuckled and added, “I never want anyone to sing my praises, if you think that is my goal then you know little if anything about me. Then join us, you obviously came here to chat, or is this a private conversation you wish to have?”
“I assure you mine is not, I just like to hang out with Kerren and make sure he is adjusting to the new changes. As I would do for any of you,” he offered.
“I don’t mean to speak of you as if you are not here, Kerren.”

"It wasn't personal, Byron, just irritating," she found Byron's mannerisms to be grating at times, but she didn't actively harbour any ill-will towards him. She looked between the pair, "I didn't come to talk," Eir held up the almost-finished nutrient bar in her hand, "I was just walking, and having a late dinner."

[OOC: I was trying to orchestrate a chance meeting alone with Kerren, to create an opportunity to ask him a private question or two. IC, Eir has no reason to seek him out.]

Kerren shifted his gaze between the two. "Byron. Eir."
He shrugged himself out his meditative position. "I'm fully capable of speaking with both at once," he spoke somewhat curtly. "If there was anything on your minds."

Byron nodded, “Well you are welcome to join us, Eir.”
“I have been checking around the base, the soldiers seem pretty adamant that the only local dangers were some panthers but they said that for the most part they can avoid them. I was thinking we could check it out regardless but by the sounds of it, might be real dangerous and more importantly not absolutely needed.”

Kerren watched Eir leave, idly wondering what was eating the half-Arkanian before looking back to Byron. "Sounds like it's something that might be worth the effort. So..." he jutted his chin in the direction Eir had left. "What's going on with you two?"

Byron replied, "I honestly don't know and as you can see she isn't willing to discuss the subject so it makes reconciliation or understanding difficult. I had thought she disliked me because of Mir, the fhargul you met, he has some... radical ideas for a Jedi and I try to offer polite advice, but I guess it is deeper."
"She mentioned an incident that happened weeks ago back on Coruscant, I had not realized she was brought on as assistant and I offered some guidance for her and another trainee and she obviously took it as a deep offense."
Byron frowned as he realized that he considered himself a superior fighter than Eir, and it was perhaps far too much pride for his liking. He continued, "I had hoped to clear the air and move on, but it seems that was not meant to be. Overall I think there is just a clash of personalities."

"Sounds like an awful lot of pride for a Jedi," it wasn't clear if he meant Eir or Byron, "I keep hearing that a Jedi is supposed to be humble."
He gave a sigh. "Girls are difficult. They'll say nothing's wrong, but they look like a nexu that got dunked with water."

“We are, I suppose I have work to do to be more humble,” he said with a god natured smile.
On the latter Byron replied, “I doubt her gender plays any role in our differences, she is simply a different personality and we clash poorly is my guess. I do wish she would give me a chance to explain matters or at least find common ground but perhaps that is the best one can hope for.”
“Well no need to dwell on such things, were you having issues finding peace?” he finished.
