All the signs point to that tomorrow the crystal caves will be opened, and so the teachers are preparing you for the final part of your trials: your lightsaber.
----
The masters give you each crafting materials worth 300 credits for crafting your lightsaber hilt, as tomorrow the focus will be on finding and attuning yourself to your crystal in the caves, and to emerge from that trial with a ready-made lightsaber. So today the temple has been made available for the students to construct their lightsaber hilts. You may supply your own materials too to use.
We will be using the crafting rules here for Lightsaber construction: Link
As an additional rule, we'll allow for a "slow and steady"-approach to this: you may choose to spend 4 timeslots dedicated to crafting to achieve a basic hilt (Force and Destiny pg 177), without needing to roll. Though you do not benefit from any of the additional bonuses to doing the crafting check, such as the free mod (more on that below), the customization, and the variations you can build.
For those who are rolling their own craft check, they get the free mod as per the linked rules above, which will go into effect when you complete the hilt on Day 10 by installing your crystal.
You may also choose to work into the Night slots, but be warned that it can give you penalties for fatigue the next day...
EDIT: Additional rulings!
1) If you fail with advantage or a triumph, the materials are not used; you may attempt the construction roll again if you like
2) If you fail with no advantage, or a despair you may only construct a simple lightsaber by spending 2 more time slots; you may not attempt another construction roll
3) The latest you may attempt a new crafting is D9MN; that way, if you fail, you can switch to a simple, and still have a lightsaber by EAD10. Keep in mind that if you spend fewer than 3 slots sleeping, you will suffer a setback to all rolls D10. Some of these rolls will be important!
4) Advantage on failed rolls may not be used to contribute features to your hilt

O'vala was so excited to get this lightsaber crafting out of the way. But as she went through it, even with the book on hand, it didn't seem like she was getting anywhere. "Oh man, what did Silas do for this part?"
It was a bit of a disaster.

Eir propped open her copy of The Duality of the Force, the text had proved surprisingly supportive in helping her find her focus when it came to matters of the Force and how it could be shaped and encouraged to flow in specific ways. Firing up her datapad and skimming through the files, an image jumped out of her, a preview popping up as she moved to scroll by it. The half-arkanian looked at the man pictured, his familiarity still tickling in the back of her brain. “Bleh,” she pushed the thought and the file away, opening a copy of Studies in the Force and Technology which included detailed schematics and explanations of the inner workings of a lightsaber.
The tranquility of the Temple was soothing, and Eir descended into an almost trance-like state, focused deeply on the work. Time seemed simultaneously slowed down and speeding by, and by the time she’d surfaced again, more than two hours had passed. When she was done, she had a curved hilt, slightly shorter and narrower to fit her little hands, and a few components left over that might be useful to making further customisations.
She also had the strangest idea, percolating in the back of her mind while she’d been intent on crafting.

Lightsaber Hilt
Base time: 6 hours
Adjusted time: 2 hours
Timeslots Used: LA+EE (using both slots for fluff reasons)
[D9 LA-EE] Crafting Hilt (Lore, Text): 1eP+3eA+1eB+2eD 4 successes, 1 advantage

Advantage to reserve 25cr worth of materials for future work.

[MA-LA]
"Why do we fall, sir?" That had been what a butler character had asked a budding Chadra-Fan superhero. It was what got O'vala to keep trying her kicks and flips when she had failed so many times.
Trying and trying again. That was the way she did things.
O'vala opened up her book and poked at her lightsaber, just like she had done so before with Silas. Her prior attempt, which totally didn't work, was kind of like how her training one had broken. All she had to do was put together a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and somehow it seemed to come altogether.
She added some bulk to it, for leverage, and tried to swing it around with one hand, as per usual. It was a bit hard, but she liked the imaginary heft that came with it. She managed to use some of Silas' old tricks to remove some of the "unnecessary" parts to make it a bit slimmer. She hoped that they were unnecessary, at least.

Zanja thought she had it, she really did... but somehow, no matter how the pieces looked like they should fit together, they kept coming apart in her hands. Or they fit, but no power flowed. In the end, for all the time she'd spent on it, what she had was quite basic on the inside. At least the reek-leather wrapping on the grip looked cool.

EM, LM, EA, LA Four slots to get a default Handle McHandle
Mir, having decided to stay indoors and warm or at least as warm as he could considering that the jedi temple they were staying at was ancient and likely didn't have modern central heating. Clad in his warm robes Mir sat by the parts (and the manual) handed by the masters. Exactly why he had to make his own hilt was beyond Mir - on intellectual level at least. He was smart enough to not protest when being told to do something. If the masters wanted him to construct a hilt on his own, a hilt he would construct even if engineering wasn't his strong point. So Mir set to work, following the instructions as carefully as he could. He had to disassemble the hilt several times, having messed up a connection or having forgotten a part. Uncharacteristically Mir even had a lunch while working - usually the young farghul wanted to dedicate all his attention to the food at paw when food was to be had.
Several attempts and creative farghul curses later, Mir leaned back from his desk and looked at a hilt laying on it. It fit his paw... almost perfectly if you didn't take into account a knob that pressed bit uncomfortably against his thumb. But lightsabers were ancient and prestigious weapons and as far as he was concerned, a functional hilt was good enough. All in all, Mir was rather proud of himself.

Yup, it was that time... Saber creation 101, not that Silas sctually knew too much about it. He had studied of course, but that didn't really mean much in the long term. You had to try to get results, and the results of Silas's first attempt was failure.
He wasn't quite down for the count though, and kept at it, eventually producing somethign that was at least serviceable... if Not a little better then that.
Lightsaber crafting day 9, free advantage book, free advantage hydrospanner. Destiny: 2eP+1eA+1eB+2eD 0 successes, 2 advantage

Light saber crafting round 2, now with more failure. 2 free advantage ME, LE used: 2eA+1eP+1eB+2eD 2 successes, 2 advantage

1 Basic lightsaber hilt, Customizable for +1 hardpoint - 25 credits cost

Re: Lightsaber Crafting (D9, EM to LE)
Esla spent the earlier part of the day after she woke up to scrounge around for parts for her lightsaber. Yes, she was told that it wasn't quite required but she got a feeling that she could use some advantage in making the lightsaber when she could be working with a knowledge deficit. This would be a cakewalk for someone like Silas she imagined.
After a brisk morning walk around the base, she eventually got to crafting her hilt. The additional materials did help somewhat if only to give her some extra parts to work with when it came to the aesthetics of her lightsaber. Her hilt had an open decorative handguard to it, like the ceremonial swords on the planet she was raised on. Trying to balance contemporary and feudal, she managed to do an admirable job and crafted a light-weight hilt. Even without the crystal, she was rather impressed that she had managed to create something like this with her own hands and forged her own destiny, so to speak.
The Materials
(Mid-Morning)
Day 9, Light Saber Crafting: Streetwise Check: 1eP+1eA+2eD 1 failure, 1 advantage

Day 9, Light Saber Crafting, Late Morning: Streetwise Check: 1eP+1eA+2eD 1 success

Taime decided that with his lack of knowledge, he'd be better off taking the slow and steady route. Looking at the book he'd been gifted, he took his time during the day, trying to learn and understand his lightsaber from the inside out.
Finally, he had something he felt wouldn't shame him at least.
(5 slots, default hilt, taime is just pleased he didn't blow himself up)
