Cautious Exploration (Day 8 Late Morning)

Using the schematics Byron looked for lights and an accessible terminal to pull up records.

The door opened to Byron's commands, with a painful rumble as it pushed against age, ice, and snow. But thanks to the firepaste, the worst of it was gone, and the door would now be able to close and open again with ease.

Inside it was predictably dark, and cold. It didn't seem to provide any shelter against the cold from outside as there hardly seemed to be a difference in temperature. The opening hallway stretched forward about thirty feet or so, before ending in a T-section; a passageway continuing to the right and another to left.

"We need to get lights and life support online, if possible," Byron said firmly.

"Everything else is secondary to that."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Well, then we go to the engineering wing." Silas offered thoughtfully. "See if we can get the generators working."

[Zanja]

"Sure. That's going to be this way..."

Zanja's orienteering skills were on point like never before!

"Lead the way, Di." Silas replied as he followed after the Zabrak girl. though his eyes were more on their surrondings then her. One could never be too careful when exploring new ruins after all, you never know what might be inside.

"Do you think many people have been here since the accident that closed it down?"

[O'vala Aeser]

"Do you ever get the feeling that it's weird that nobody else has done this yet? None of the knights, none of the masters? Like somehow, fate has convened for us to do it now? Like if the masters did this, then they'd probably be done by now, right?"

[Eir]

Eir hardly noticed the dark, wishing it was warmer, looking about as they followed Zanja.

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Well, maybe the masters have done some things. But it's not like they can do all the things, no one has the time for that sort of stuff." He peered around the building. "Still, I'd be surprised if we were the first trainees here... The way the commander talked it seemed like it's a pretty popular spot."

[Byron Mik]

"Do you ever get the feeling that it's weird that nobody else has done this yet? None of the knights, none of the masters? Like somehow, fate has convened for us to do it now? Like if the masters did this, then they'd probably be done by now, right?"

Byron replied, “The Jedi stationed here defend the Temple, they don’t seem to care much about exploring frozen abandoned settlements. Soldiers, well I doubt they get all the free time we do. That door had not been opened in a long time, it’s cold here but that ice build up takes time.”

“Sometimes places just get abandoned, like on Coruscant do you go into every abandoned building you see? Well maybe you do, but most just ignore it.”

Zanja was the map and the map was her. Gree had some rather interesting terms, like Grey Event, Blue Taurus, Black Bisector... all pretty strange, but she could understand the schematics well enough to see where the maintance room could be. It also helped that the floor seemed to have patterns on the floor that probably should've been lit had the power been up and running, and most of them seemed to stretch in the direction of where the most power sources were.

As they moved along the corridor under her guidance, the place was not completely dead... (GM Destiny)

Silas wasn't the most perceptive person on the planet, not that there were all that many people on the planet, so he managed to miss whatever was lurking in the dark.

That didn't mean he wasn't ready for it though.

As they moved through the corridors, it seemed that some ancient defense mechanisms were still operational, most likely running on seperate power sources. It was as if the technological guardians came out of the very wall itself.

In two groups of three, what appeared to be something resembling maintance droids began to close in on Zanja and Silas from behind, while from the front, two lumbering guardians moved to intercept Byron, Eir, and O'vala.

The fixer droids seemed to have small sparks coming from something resembling blasters, while the two guardians seemed to have some strange club-like weapons.

"Ahh, kriff. The lights are out, but these things aren't?" Zanja growled in alarm, yanking her training saber off her belt. She ducked in closer to the swarm of repair droids and swiped at them in a single motion, the bluish stun blade igniting just a moment before it connected. Those looked like energy weapons at the ends of the droids' limbs--improvised ones, at least--and it might be best not to let them take their pick of targets.

Well, the other three should have the ones at the front. Moving alongside Di. Silas drew his saber and took a swing at the creatures.

Maybe they would flee if they killed a few. "My glowrod is on my belt if anyone needs it!"
