[Day 7 - EN] Champagne Supernova

Byron had a busy day and was glad that he could schedule this meeting for later as he felt there would be little time to enjoy dangerous company before they headed off to Illum. So he sat on the beach with a fire going, having borrowed the speeder and a few choice training implements for the encounter.

There was a fancy meal of bantha wieners on a stick and delicious cold water. A feast for sure, who could deny that was not a sumptuous beach meal.

"Well, well, well." Drascovina's cultured Imperial accent was amused. "I was wondering what sort of surprise Jedi Cop would have in store for me. What a curious one."

She was back in her school style clothing, blouse and sweater with matching skirt and stockings. Albeit with the addition of a lightweight jacket. It still had ruffles, of course.

“Oh the surprises don’t stop with me,” he said rising to his feet.

“Last night got me thinking, and after everything that has come to pass I feel there is really only one way to settle matters and that is a contest. Now as you can see I am roasting quite the feast here, but that comes later, first,” he said with a smirk tossing her a practice saber.

“First we dance!” As if on cue, because well it was, the music started.

“Surely you know how to dance?” he said with a friendly smile igniting his own practice saber.

Byron finished with removing his robe and shirt, keeping his pants and sturdy boots, while saying, “These are training weapons, so no one should be seriously hurt… no limbs, only bruised egos. First to get three strikes wins and the loser bows to the better and is owed a single boon of the winner. The dinner is complimentary.”

Drascovina's eyes lit up as she caught the training saber. "A contest. Ah, now we are truly speaking the same language. How quickly you learn, Jedi Cop." She laughed, mockingly musical.

Slowly she walked, step by step, to even ground, a confident strut. "Very well. I agree to your terms. May the best duelist win." Dramatically, she tossed her light jacket from her shoulders, letting it catch the air, and flutter away. She ignited her training saber, raising the hilt briefly to her forehead, and then down to her side in a sweeping gesture.

She grinned fiercely. "Have at you, Jedi Cop!"

Byron chuckled as she slowly side stepped and said, “Well I am not e fastest learner in the world but I figured this would be more memorable than just sitting on the beach. I have to admit, I am already a bit excited to see just what the Sith trained you to do.”

It seemed they'd trained her to be fast. She lunged suddenly, one leg extending to its full length, the point of her saber going straight at his chest.

It didn't quite manage to go through his defenses, though. She disengaged quickly, weaving her lightsaber in a defensive pattern as she straightened, regaining her equilibrium.

Byron kept his footing giving ground as she started a dizzying assault of strikes but his head was clear ad his body reacted before his mind had a chance to muddle things up. Spark flew as their blades clashed until he saw an opening and made a wide lateral strike to push her back before making a series of strikes searching for that right moment.

It came and he made the most of it. Byron smirked and said, “You’re not bad, not bad at all, Princess.”

She went on the offense, with a series of rapid thrusts and quick slashes. Faking high, she went low instead, sweeping the stunsaber through his legs.

"Oooohohohoho!" She laughed as he tumbled to the ground, giving him another salute.

Byron tumbled on the sand and for a moment thought about all the decisions that had brought him to this moment. Had they all been worth it. Maybe, just maybe, a life of adventure and respectable violence was not for him. But then he heard that laughter and he knew the only thing that mattered was wiping that smug look off her face if only momentarily.

He scrambled to his feet shaking out the sand and said, "Well now this is more like it." Now he was going to really focus. He came at her quick but relied on thinking ahead using her speed as a trap with a feint and then a strike that was classic Soresu. A strong defense with a precise counter strike, but he added a twist using the opening to draw close to disarm, with a fierce kiss.

Like he said, Jedi knew when to cheat.

Drascovina's eyes widened as their weapons clashed, but not so much as they widened a moment later. Her lips were cold but soft, and tasted of the same spicy fruit that made her trademark scent. He could feel her grip on her saber weakening...

No, wait, it was shifting.

In one smooth motion, she shifted her blade, letting his pass by. She slipped it, spinning her blade all the way around. It came down with a sting on his wrists, disarming him instead.

"Not bad, Not bad, indeed." She tossed her hair, smirking. "But you'll have to do better if you really want to impress me."

Byron only needed one more to win and despite his senses telling him to play it safe he trusted his feelings that said get reckless and go for it. He cart wheeled toward his weapon and picked it up and then focused on her shifting nimble form before he leapt forward with a powerful strike…

They clashed with sparks in a flurry of strikes back and forth before Byron saw his opening, the Force was with him as he spun around using the traing saber to deflect another attack spinning behind her with a sweeping kick to take her off her feet and the gently catch her as he continued his spin with one strong arm the other holding the training blade against her chest with a light tap.

He smirked and said, “That’s three.”

There was a pause. Drascovina looked up at him, teeth bared, her eyes blazing.

Finally, he felt her relax. Her training saber deactivated. "Well. Perhaps you aren't so bad after all."

She shifted a little in his grip, lips quirking. "Well, I suppose I owe you a boon now, don't I? Hmph. Very well." She gave him an arch look, both eyebrows going up. "What is it that you want, Byron?"

Byron helped her to her feet as he responded, “I’ll figure it out, just say for now you owe me one.”

“Hungry?” he said walking over to the food cooking over the open flame. He added, “I always get hungry after a workout, and although fast, you pushed me to the limit.”

"I see..." Her eyes narrowed, watching as he walked to the fire. After a moment, her lips curled up into an edged smile.

After a moment, she too walked over. "Perhaps. Ah..." She frowned. "What are those? In any case, I am certainly thirsty."

“A delicacy… I am told, or just whatever I could procure from the Jedi supplies I figured they would not miss. I am pretty sure they are some kind of processed meat or meat substitute, put it between some buns add condiments and they are delicious,” he said honestly.

“Got plenty for the both of us,” he added tossing her a bottle of cold water. He then laid out a large synthetic cloth blanket for them to sit on and watch the waves and fire. He took a seat cross-legged and said, “Figured I won’t have much time to pick your brain as we leave in a few days for parts elsewhere. Not sure what your plans are but I figured it would be nice to spend a relaxing evening with someone I respect, that wasn’t, you know, a Jedi.”

"I see..." Drascovina's eyes narrowed as she looked at them. "Well... in the interest of cultural exchange, I will try one. But processed meat or meat substitute? I'm not accustomed to having food 'substitute', you know."

Still she moved to sit next to him easily enough, arranging her skirt as she knelt. "I see." She said again, looking away briefly. She looked back with a curious frown. "That happens, sometimes? You want to speak to non-Jedi? I can understand that. Who'd want to talk to Jedi all the time?" She flashed a quick sharp grin at him. "But joking aside, the question stands."

Byron smiled and offered her a roasted bantha weiner with pride. He replied, “I mean I just like being able to relax strangely enough no need to make sure you are setting the example or having to walk the line of amusing and entertaining. I know I bring it on myself but it can get overwhelming,” he offered as he munched away at his own food.

He finished one with a few monstrous bites and then continued, “I guess I just rather spend time with someone I like on a more personal level than just like a general one.”

“And like I promised,” he pulled out a data chit and offered it, “Music for the beautiful Princess. Just for you.”

While she had skillfully handled knife, fork, wineglass, and training saber, a roasted bantha weiner was rather outside of Drascovina's culinary expertise. It took a bit of fumbling, turning it this way and that, before she finally managed to begin to take dainty bites.

The gift actually brought a hint of a blush to her cheeks. "Thank you." She murmured. After a moment, her chin tilted up proudly. "Well. I shall have to have yours sent over. It's only fair." She tucked it away in a tiny pocket in her skirt.

Drascovina was silent a moment. "The rest of the Sith are all simpering weaklings. Conversation with them is nothing more than an exercise in sharpening my wits on an instrument grown rather dull." She shot him a sudden look, eyes narrowing. "Well, there was Kerren; not quite on my level, but he was something. He was missing this morning."

Byron looked away briefly and said, “Yeah… Kerren was the red one right… the Sith… Sith? Not even sure how that works.”

“Look you didn’t hear it from me, but Kerren is fine… he just wanted a new way of living… I am only telling you this because I don’t like lying to those I care about so… as a favor to me, call it the boon, just keep that to yourself.”

Byron frowned and added, “I mean do what you think is best but… I just think if he wants a new life we should give hi that chance. Just like I would never expect you to change who you are, it’s why I like being around you.”

He reached out his hand for hers fully expecting a sharp rebuke or withering look.

Drascovina looked away for a few moments. When she looked back, she was smirking. "This is not a surprise."

She gave one of her single-shoulder shrugs. "He was weak. And if he ever shows his face, he will be killed. I have nothing but contempt for him." She nearly spat the words.

After a moment, she smirked. "But... perhaps he is beneath my notice. I see no reason to mention to anyone where he is." The smirk grew. "And since that favor is so easily granted, I shall also allow you to continue holding my hand." Her hand was small, and, like her lips had been a little cold.
