[Day 7 -LA] Jedi Cop IV: Long Punch Goodnight

Byron parked the speeder about half a kilometer away from the site and then the team approached the rest of the way on foot. Hopefully Master Orgus Din was making nice with the Lord Destrus far away and hopefully there were still people to save and not just piles of corpses... or worse nothing at all.
Now it was time for Maximum Byron.

"So are you still Jedi #4? Or was all that 'Jedi cop' stuff semi-serious and not just an episode of a holo show I didn't watch?" Zizzy wasn't sure she really wanted to know, but damnit they couldn't just start changing their nicknames whenever they liked!
"Thanks for bringing me in on the operation by the way. I really hope we can save those poor people." She set her tendrils to discovery mode.

"You know I don't even know anymore... and sure thing Zizzy when Silas aka Good Cop said we needed backup you were first on my list," he responded.

In his armor and blue thermal cloak, Silas wasn't the most inconspicuous person, but being prepared had seemed like the best option.
"I just hope we got the spot right." Silas replied as he glanced towards Zizzy. "This seems the most likely place, but we wont know until we go in."

After catching the fishy it was time to deliver the paw of justice. Mir hung with the crowd, notably standing behind Silas. Whether he was using the tall human as meat shield or hiding from Byron was hard to tell. Either way, the farghul was present, clad in his long robes. "Let's kriff some tails." he meowed softly.

Zizzy looked over at Silas. "Oh so you've got your own nickname now? Good cop and Jedi Cop. Which cop are you Mir? Do we have a Bad cop or don't I want to know?" She gave them an easy smile, which would include Kellen and a raised eyebrow if he happened to be joining them.
"Well boys, perhaps the force will give me a hint." She sat down on the ground cross-legged and reached out with her senses. For the first time in a few days the light side rushed back.

"I really hope they are slavers... it's like a punch buffet, can't feel bad beating up slavers," Byron joked.
"But if the people are there we need to make sure we get them to safety first, then, well... Jedi Cop will do what he does best."

"I thought we were scouting, not storming the castle," Zanja put in gruffly. The Zabrak youngling looked ready for a sneaking mission, all right, wrapped in a dark red thermal cloak with a hood that could be tugged up to hide her pale face. "I mean, whatever, but if they're kidnapping people the Dewbright security office could probably take it from there."

"I promise not to punch anyone until we rescue the locals," he said with some resignation.

"Why don't we just kill them?" Kerren asked, having been roped into this somehow by Silas and Byron this morning. He felt rather uncomfortable without his lightsaber, and had to make due with a combat knife for now.

"Maybe? I think we're all cops this time and not members of a gang?" He paused throughtfully. "I suppose that makes you Future cop, Meli?" It seemed as likely as any ofther cop name to him.
"Well, I think we scout first and see what we can do from there, saving any locals is top priority though, or at least getting enough information where the local law enforcement can step in."

"Yeah, okay." That was roughly good enough for Zanja. It sounded like these guys could use a little punching, probably. "Just remember about 'there is no emotion, there is peace,' right?"
She frowned at Kerren. "Because Jedi don't run around killing people."

Byron tossed Kerren his training saber, apparently he just never used it and this is why he didn't have it later in the day for those that care about Continuity, "Here Kerren, just in case."
"And no... we won't just kill them unless they force our hand, even a slaver could repent..."

As they had been asked to stop some distance away from the excavation site to avoid drawing unwanted attention, they could barely spy the area from where they stood. There did not seem to be any activity outside from what they could see from here.
Opening herself up to the Force, Zizzy could feel the danger ahead. The Dark side was strong in this place... not as strong as the Vergence, but rather there was something else making it be that way. In her vision, she could see various species within the cave. Working without any safety gear on in an air that felt nauseating, but for some reason the unblinking and unrelenting workers did not seem affected by it. As a last warning from the Force, she heard raspy howl come for her. And then the vision ended.

Zizzy's tendrils flared as she woke from the vision and slowly stood up. "The force just showed me the people working down in those caves. No safety equipment. I could feel the dark side in there. Have we got respirators in the speeder Byron?"
Her eyes met Kellen's. "Do you know what's down there? It felt like the air itself was sickening, and there was this raspy howl, maybe a guard creature?"

"I got mine on me, but no extras," Zanja admitted, patting a pouch on her belt that was about the right size to contain a compact respirator. "They're digging for something down there? Anybody know what?"

"I have mine with me." Silas replied, as he dipped into his backpack., saves could be filled with dangerous gases after all. He then went to check on his actual sword, not that he intended to use it, but he had brought it just in case.
"I can check the speeder for others though."

Kerren's eyes narrowed slightly. "I would not know. This is something that I wasn't involved in."
At least he had gotten his pack back, once it had been checked for weapons, bombs, and dark side artifacts. "I have a rebreather and a spare one if someone needs it, I guess... it could be gas of some kind."

"Works for me, so just be ready for anything," he said confidently.
"Zanja want to take point and scout ahead?"

"Sure." Zanja was partway through getting her breath mask out and arranging it around her neck, where she could easily slip it over her face if she needed it. She nodded and began to move ahead of the group, her boots crunching very quietly in the hot dirt underfoot. "I'll try and find someplace we can all watch from." And if she couldn't find a good vantage point, she could at least take a look for herself and report back to the others.
