[D7 EA] I Wasn't Done

#1 Postby Eir » Mon Feb 04, 2019 8:21 am

After her visit to the Sith Temple was so abruptly cut short the previous day, Eir decided to return and have a poke around. She thought it would be safe enough, it's not like lemurs would be addled by the Dark Side of the Force, right? She also wasn't expecting Lord Destrus - or anyone, actually - to be there, nor did she want the watchful eyes of the Masters judging her as she explored. So she went alone.

Turning on her datapad, Eir fired up an RPG mapping program and roughed out the shapes of the rooms and corridors as she went. It wasn't accurate, but she'd be able to follow her path back if she needed to. Every now and then, as she had the Jedi Temple, she paused to snap a holophoto of things she found intriguing.

The Sith pyramid didn't seem to have cute fuzzy animals around like lemurs, but occassionally she'd spot tiny lizards scurrying away. The place seemed empty, as if even the Sith themselves didn't feel the need to linger around this place too much. It didn't remove the sense of something foreboding in the air.

Foreboding was a good word for Eir's mood as she wandered the Sith Temple, admiring the severe architecture, curious about the differences between the temples of either side of the Force.

The narrow pathways led her deeper into the pyramid, places she did not see the other day. Judging by the angle of the floor, it was gently sloping downwards to lead onward to places underground.

Going down, the air got chillier... it wasn't just foreboding anymore. Dread seemed a better word now...

The chill below brought her experience in the vergence crashing to the forefront of her mind. If she had heard steps behind her at that moment, she would have not doubted for a second that it was the vision of Corvin trailing her once more.

It did feel eerily similar to what she had seen at the vergence the day before. And her keen senses was able to pick up a faint purple light coming around the corner of the sloping corridor ahead of her.

Eir shuddered, that was far too much like her vision. Let discretion be the better part of valour, she was not prepared to face the Sith Lord again. Not so soon. Not alone. It could have easily been nothing, but it wasn't worth the risk, and she had plenty of holophotos to examine, maybe she could reconstruct the appearance of the edifice in the main hall with Holoshop CC.

Very calmly, Eir turned and made her way back.

As she turned, the familiar voice of Destrus could be heard echoing through the corridor.

"Leaving so soon, my child? After sneaking inside," the voice tutted as if she had been a little girl caught with her hand in the cookie-jar, "I do applaud your audacity, despite such poor manners."

Closing her eyes a moment, she stopped and hung her head. Taking a deep breath, she straightened herself up and walked back towards the purple light. "Sneak? Is a Temple not open to all-comers?"

The voice grew closer and closer.

"Oh, shall I take a stroll into the Jedi temple then?" his chuckle was dry and mirthless. "I do wonder what the Jedi masters would think about that... especially if I were to do it somewhere like Coruscant? A temple is sacred ground to its flock, is it not, my dear?"

"And yet, you seem so insistent that one should know both sides." The Masters would probably disapprove of a Sith Lord treading their ancient grounds, but it's not like his presence was going to despoil anything. She padded forward to meet him, to prove she was not intimidated.

Out of the darkness and around the corner, the tall figure of Lord Destrus stepped forward. His dark robes made him almost fade in with the environment, if not for the purple light of his mask.

"Your pedantic nature is most amusing," it almost sounded like he was smiling. And not in a good way. "Young minds should ask questions, and challenge the way things are, yes... very good. However, knowledge sometimes comes at a price you must know, little one."

"And what pound of flesh would you demand to tell me about Sembylus?" the girl was failing to sound as casual as she would like.

"Now that is a very interesting question," he mused thoughtfully. "The cost might be too high for you, my dear. But I will not deny it to you if that is what you truly want."

Eir shook her head softly, Vision-Destrus had been just as weaselly about his offers. "Is this one of those 'I'll be demanding a favour of you at a time least convenient' thing, or a 'can't handle the knowledge' type thing?"

He chuckled coldly. "Oh, nothing quite like that. Perhaps I better show you, to better explain what the cost will be." Destrus took a step back and gestured for her to follow him.

Curiosity killed the cat, she thought as she followed the Sith, but satisfaction brought it back.

He said nothing as he walked back into the chamber he had occupied prior to her arrival. It too was dark, as it seemed the Sith lord had no need of a light source. Except there was one other peculiar light-source; a box near the stone-seat where he had been sitting only moments ago. It was small - enough to fit in his hand, or in both of Eir's hands.

The light softly eminating from the box had the same purple-ish glow as his mask.

Image

"This," he picked up the box, "contains, shall we say, essences of the Dark side. Once imbued within a Force sensitive person, they grow connected to the Dark side as if they had basked in it their entire lives... I would say perhaps even further enhancing their power with the Force." Destrus seemed to be looking at her. "But of course you ask why would I give you something that is a gift, instead of asking for a price. These of course are still in the testing-phase; it all depends on your own willpower how it affects you, or if it will consume you."

The way her vision was now manifesting was downright unnerving. "I think we'll have to disagree on the nature of this 'gift'," Eir answered, it sounded like a steep price indeed. "How many 'souls' are in there, anyway?"

"Souls? I suppose you could use that term, if you wish. Sith alchemy does a bit more of a mystical feel to it than science does, but you need not concern yourself with the number" Destrus spoke in a vaguely amused tone. "Sembylus too was someone who accepted this gift of mine."
