Re: [D3 MM] Debate Class - Eir
Eir glanced away, "I do not wish to be rude, Master Chriala is very skilled, but," she didn't quite know how to frame words around her objection. "I would like to learn more of the galaxy, I would like to travel, there is so much knowledge out there. If Master Chriala is the best guide for me, then I would be honoured."
Zizzy had said something about wild places and forgotten lore. The more time Eir spent dwelling on her future, trying to cut through the uncertainty, the more that thought appealed to her. "Will you be taking a padawan, Knight Corvin?" there was not hint of hopefulness in her tone, she strictly believed it would be Zizzy, with her sparkling eyes and elegant tendrils that the Knight would prefer to tutor. Maybe the half-arkanian was more cut out to be a bodyguard or something.
The girl sighed. She was all of fourteen, and Corvin was probably old enough to be her father, I'm all straight up and down like a boy, I don't even have boobs. Eir had grown at least an inch in the last year, and she was developing, just too slowly for her liking.

Corvin grunted. "Yeah, okay, I get that. Master Kleben took me all kinds of places." He shrugged. "Don't worry. It's not always easy to see why you're assigned to someone. But the masters usually have good reasons for it."
Again, he shrugged, his eyes narrowing just a little. "Maybe. If there's a good fit." A brief, scowling hesitation, and then his expression softened back to normal. "Haven't had one yet, so it'd be my first."

The girl nodded solemnly, "well, it's our first time having a Master, so learning experiences all around," a smile curled the edges of her lips.

That won a soft snorted laugh from Corvin. "Yeah. Good point. And Jedi are supposed to always be learning things, right?"
He gave her a nod. "I think you're gonna like the planet we're taking you to. I don't want to spoil the surprise," a hint of a smirk, "-but it's got some great things to see. A friend of mine lives there. I plan on looking him up when we get there."

Eir went a little wide-eyed at the tantalising thought of what kind of interesting friends Corvin might know. "I'm looking forward to it," over the past two days her nerves had mostly given way to something more akin to burning curiosity.

For some reason, that response made Corvin chuckle. "Yeah. You'll see. I'll introduce you."
His expression returned to neutral. Or, for him, neutral positive. "Well... anything else you wanna chat about? We've got a few more minutes. I was just never very good at coming up with topics."

EIr hoped it wasn’t obvious that she was trying to eke out the last few minutes of her time with Corvin. Even if she was just a kid with a dumb crush, the girl was finding his presence enjoyable on a companionable level. “I don’t suppose you’d be willing to say if it’s going to be cold where we’re going? before Ilum, I mean, obviously it will be cold on Ilum.”

He shook his head. "I wouldn't call it cold. Don't think most people would." The second part was probably more informative than the first; the rugged knight probably had different standards than most.
He gave her a curious look. "Not a fan of the cold, are you? Can't say I blame you if that's the case. I've been hot, and I've been cold. Heat's bad, but the cold really seeps into your bones. Feels like it takes hours to leave you, even once you're warm again."

Corvin crossed his arms across his chest. "Yeah it does. Sounds like you've got experience with that, too." His eyebrows went up, just a little. It wasn't a strong invitation to share, but it clearly was one.

Corvin grunted acknowledgement. "I guess Jedi come from all sorts of places, huh?"

Corvin grunted. It wasn't quite clear if he already knew that, or just wasn't surprised by it.
After a few moments, he spoke. "Well. I should probably move along. Thanks for the debate." He smiled. "And the talk."

"Yeah?" Corvin rose easily to his feet. "Good. I'm glad. That's the idea."
With his graceful silent stride, he moved to the doorway. He paused a moment there, casting a glance back. "Until next time, Eir." He said, with another ghost of a smile.
Then he was gone.
