Mir's debate

[Mir]

Well, knowing he had farked up Mir looked for his debate partner. He hoped it wouldn't be master Jaric.

[Murah Bakash]

To the kitten's relief, it was not Jaric, but Murah who came to speak with Mir.

"Were you hungry today?" she asked warmly as she walked inside the room to sit down. At least she didn't seem upset or disappointed with him.

[Mir]

Mir blinked slowly, offering Murah a smile. "A bit." he admitted. "I just don't know." the pointed ears flopped from side to side as he shook his head. "There's just too much to learn." As his head came to rest, Mir's ears flopped sadly to the side.

[Murah Bakash]

"It's alright. You have learned so much in such a short time, Mir, there's no need to be ashamed of your results," Murah assured him. "Many have been here almost their entire lives, and have studied the various subjects taught by the Order for a long time."

She cleared her throat and looked at her datapad to see his test results again for a brief moment. "Is there anything on your mind before we begin?"

[Mir]

"Well. I know I should have done better." he sighed. "The world is just so complex." Mir looked at Murah with his big blue kitty eyes, a sigh escaping his furry snout. "There's just too much out there for a stray like me."

"Uh. Several things. Like the Republic. Like, why." Mir tilted his head to the side, hoping he had made sense.

[Murah Bakash]

"Why the Republic exists? Or why you are here?" she inquired as her green eyes looked over at him. While she lacked all the fur and didn't even have a tail, there was just something motherly about her.

[Mir]

"Former." He nodded. "I am here because I have very poor grasp for the former."

[Murah Bakash]

"Do you believe understanding the Republic is nescessary for a jedi then?!

[Mir]

"Well." Mir gulped. "Republic. Um... the people running it at least. They are the big gang that runs this part of the galaxy. Sure they don't throw people in naxxa pits - hopefully - but they still make the rules. And they have power. So, yes, yes I would say that jedi should know how Republic works."

[Murah Bakash]

"And what do you believe the Jedi Order's relation to the Republic should be?"

[Mir]

"Uuh" Mir stammered. Frak do I know. "Umm... no unnecessary stabbing?" he offered. "But how do you even have a relationship with republic. The republic is like many-hundred worlds. Too many people to talk with."

[Murah Bakash]

Murah chuckled warmly. "No unnescessary stabbing is a good start - most societies tend to have laws against killing." She breathed calmly and continued. "That does tend to be why these many worlds have chosen representatives to speak for them, in the Senate. As they have all agreed to come together to work towards something greater. So when the Order speaks with the Republic, they speak with the Senators."

The master hmm'ed briefly before thinking of a comparison. "Much like how a small tribe will have a speaker or a chief to speak for them all when meeting other tribes. Or how companies have spokespersons."

[Mir]

"Well, then we probably should talk with the senators. I have heard people talk about them." Mir nodded, his ears now more upright. "If the senators decide what happens, then talking to them lets us figure out what's going on." he suggested. "That's never a bad thing. On Doloran, a slave with no friends was often as good as dead. But if you knew people, or knew what was going on you had a chance. Whole lotta people died still." Mir was counting with his fingers, though he did not mouth the numbers nor the names each digit represented. "So. Talk to the important people, figure what they want?"

[Murah Bakash]

"Then what do you do when the wants and needs of those you speak to comes into conflict with what you need or want?" her soft green eyes looked at him with curiosity.

[Mir]

"Well. Then I don't do that." Mir crossed his arms over his chest even as his gaze dropped to his feet. He wrinkled his nose as if something bothered him. "Though I'd think about it, in case they were right."

[Murah Bakash]

She took in the small cues of his body language. "And what if you are both right?"

[Mir]

Then frikk them. Mir mused to himself. "We don't agree, but we are both correct? How would that work?" His tail curled to form a question mark.

[Murah Bakash]

"That's when people begin to make compromises. You give up something to gain something else. Such is the way of life, you must give in order to recieve," she said in a gente tone. "It is possible for neither side to be wrong. Just like it is possible for neither side to be right."

"Life is rarely black and white - we speak of the Light side and the Dark side, but in truth there is a great span of grey between there. As a Jedi, we value life and choose to protect it; yet sometimes it is required to take a life to save a life - is that something you think is right?"

[Mir]

"But if we are both right, how do we give up anything without losing something important." He asked. "I get the idea of exchanging favors but but. " Mir wasn't actually sure where he was getting with his point. "Something."

"Well. Many of you say life is sacred and all. Or that we should not really kill people." Mir's tail was question mark again. "How do we know when its ok to stab someone? Eir said that throwing someone in a naxxa pit is bad. But what if they are a really bad person who has hurt and killed many?"

[Murah Bakash]

The movement of his tail was amusing, and as much as she wanted to smile at its little twitches, she kept focus on the more important conversation.

"It is true, we try to protect and defend life. However, sometimes, someone who is really bad and have killed many must be stopped - and often they will not liste to reason or come peacefully. Have you not wondered why as guardians and protectors, we carry such a deadly weapon as the lightsaber?"
