Way Down Below The Ocean (LMD4, OPEN)

[Taime Jorel]

He pondered that for a moment. "I think I remember hearing that the meat inside the shell is supposed to be tender. Maybe people make it into a soup? Or was that something else?" Taime's education was rather slap dash in parts, due to all the traveling.

[Zizzy Roosh]

Zizzy gasped. "Why would you eat a turtle? They're beautiful gentle creatures and they can live to be hundreds of years old. At least the turtle analogues on Mikkia can."

She shook her head and returned to the view with a little less enthusiasm.

[Mir]

"I wouldn't. Looks too tough to eat." Mir replied honestly even as he ears perked. "But tell me more about this soup Taime? I am intrigued."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"I think it's best if we avoid that line of thought." Silas said with a glance towards Meli.

"Turtles seem to be one of the more protected species on the planet. I guess the Ithorians really like them." And Meli could be scary when she was mad, and she seemed to like turtles.

[Taime Jorel]

Sensing a small diplomatic incident in the making, Taime says "I'm probably remembering wrong. But tell me about catching fish. How do you do it? With paws or with a rod?"

[Mir]

"Well, rats." Mir swore. "I guess we can stick to fish then. I had some earlier today. Was good, ask Eir." he finished his makeshift report. "Just beware the toydarian hot sauce. Looked like nasty stuff." ears flopped side to side as Mir shook his head in disgust. "Well, with a line and hook. Bait on the hook, toss the line into the pool and drag the bait. Repeat until you get a fishy. Sometimes takes a while, but when you are hungry and there's no other food, well. Time's all you have."

[Taime Jorel]

He cocked his head to the side. "You went fishing with Eir? I didn't know she knew how."

The list of things I didn't know about her is getting longer every minute.

"I'll remember that. Toydarian..." Listening to him, Taime guessed that Mir had a lot of experience with hunger. "Were there a lot of fish where you were from? Or would you say there are more here?"

[Mir]

"No, we just bought fish." he corrected himself. "But I've fished before, on Doloran. Had to, to live. Too too many fish, but some. Bony, small fish. Some tasted like mud, others sweet. Dunno why. Brinetail does as Brinetail wishes. One is thankful for every gift."

[Taime Jorel]

Taime cocked his head to the side. "Who is Brinetail?"

[Zanja]

"I never went fishing before." Zanja looked intrigued. The whole thing with the bait and the hook was sort of a clever con... though if the marks were dumb fish, it couldn't be all that clever, perhaps.

[Zizzy Roosh]

Zizzy's attention was drawn to something moving in amongst the corals. She wouldn't have noticed, but her tendrils picked up on the subtle colour changes. "Oh, Master Mura, look! What is that?"

[Eir]

Eir's head whipped around to try and see what Zizzy was looking at, trying not to get fingerprints all over the transparisteel surface.

[Murah Bakash]

Murah turned her head to see the silent predator slowly fit in between two walls of coral. "That's a whitetip reef shark. They're usually only active at night, so maybe we disturbed him a little with our arrival. He'll probably go straight back to sleep now."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"They sleep underwater?" Silas asked mildly curious. He'd never really thought about what fish did at night after all.

This was followed by another question. "With the sun out all the time, how do they know its night?"

[Murah Bakash]

"That's a good question. The planet often has twilight hours, so that must be when they are most active... or perhaps they decide to get active once they figure out that they're hungry." Murah mused thoughtfully at the questions. "But yes, they do sleep underwater."

[Esla Tor]

Esla stood up in her seat to make herself taller and peaked over the head of the seat in front of her to get a better view of what predator was hidden in the rich bed of coral. With so many colours and shapes of coral, on top of the aquatic life, it was rather hard to know what she was supposed to be paying attention to. Everything looked fascinating enough but it did bug her slightly she might be missing a point of interest.

[Eir]

Eir ooooh'd over the little shark with its distinctive marking, before her attention was caught by a flash of movement. A moray eel, perhaps disturbed by the sub as well, or alert to the white tip, lunged out of it's hiding place, snapping it's powerful jaws and just missing the tail as it disappeared into a crevice.

[Corvin Zell]

Corvin had been piloting the craft on for a while. Now, he stopped it, in the middle of a great deal of sunlight.

After another quick glance at the instruments, he nudged the controls, and it began to slowly surface.

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"That's neat." Silas offered thoughtfully, "I suppose without a natural clock from the sun, they kinda develop their own then?" Natural rhythms and all of that. His attention was pulled away as the ell came cnapping out and he couldn't help but grin.

"That one looks hungry." He murmured as Corvin stopped the craft and it started to rise up out of the water.

"Where are we going now?" Silas asked to their pilot.

"Up." Corvin growled.
