That was probably because Corvin had lost at Force Caliber VI, he knew Knight Corvin wouldn't be very good at it. Still Silas tried to ignore the gruff answer, instead lookign up to see if he could spot anything.

While all around was mostly more coral, above seemed to be clear blue. It seemed perhaps they'd reached an opening in the midst of the great reef.

Above, near the surface, a mermaid's purse clung to a branch of coral by a curling tendril, "oh, what's that?" Eir asked breathily.

[Mir]

Taime cocked his head to the side. "Who is Brinetail?"

"Farghul spirit of the water. Well, lakes and seas." Mir explained, his eyes squinted close. "He decides if the fisher catches anything. Or so my mom told me. Didn't have other farghuls around us. She's offer small sacrifices to him before we'd go fishing. Shiny things tossed into the waters."

Then the reef shark caught his attention and soon Mir's snout was pressed into the glass. "Master Murah, do they eat that here?" he asked, sounding rather hopeful.

Taime took that all in, as well as the surroundings. "Huh. That's interesting. Do you still do some of the offerings or not so much?"

[Mir]

"I should, if we go fishing. Don't want Brinetail thinking I'm ungrateful." he noted. "The white of the waves is Brinetail frothing in anger, or so my mom told me. How that supposed to make any sense is beyond me."

He shrugs. "There's always a story in those tales. But it sounds like your mother wanted to make sure you knew what you had to do to keep you safe."

[Mir]

"And teach me the ways of our people. She was so sure we'd be able to leave one day." Mir sighed, his ears flopping. "Little good it did to her. Can't run Bonewhisker forever." Suddenly he found his own boots very very interesting. With his eyes cast down Mir huffed softly.

Murah tilted her head slightly as she took a step closer to the window. "Ah, they call them mermaid's purses... but they have a far more simpler function than that. Most fish lay eggs rather than give birth to live young - the purse that we see is protecting the egg."

"They're pretty ugly." Silas said looking at the weird looking bags.

"Is that so things don't want to eat them?" He asked after a moment. They did look like there probably full of poison or something after all.

[Eir]

"What? no, they look way cool," Eir replied to Silas, "that must be a big fish to have such a big egg."

[Zizzy Roosh]

"Is that the reef shark's then? I guess there are probably loads of different species it could be." As the craft rose she looked out at the coral, looking for discuss she hadn't seen yet.

"It kinda looks like it should have teeth, and wriggle after you in the water." Silas observed, maybe it really was a shark baby? Still it was surprising Pixie found iit cool looking. Maybe she liked scary things? Like Zombies?

He'd have to ask sometime.

Esla blinked as they talked about the purses. Wait, the weren't made of cloth and they weren't real purses? She wrinkled her nose for a moment, perhaps realizing that they were fleshy and/or slimy to touch. There wasn't any sort of treasure waiting for them there. At least, not tue conventional sort with gems and precious metals.

[Murah Bakash]

Murah chuckled at the interaction between the students. "Ah, no, that particular shark gives birth to live litters, I believe... but there are some sharks that leave their eggs like that. I would have to take a closer look on those to know which fish they might be from, but it's probably best not to disturb it, yes?"

[Zizzy Roosh]

Zizzy nodded, disturbing a shark seemed like a bad idea. Another series of questions popped into her head.

"So. Did all of these species evolve here, or were they brought in from another planet? I mean, some of them look really familiar, but there's this whole thriving ecosystem and it just looks so healthy. Usually when you bring in species from somewhere else it causes lots of problems."

She looked around and got to 50 different fish species before she lost track. And that was just outside the window.

The vessel didn't quite surface, but it nearly did. Corvin sat back from the controls.

"This is a little area in the middle of the reef. It's supposed to have some unique species in it." Corvin said tersely.

[Eir]

Well that was something, and Eir's eyes darted back and forth as she tried to look everywhere at once. Maybe there were Force sensitive creatures down here.

A little piece of shame found its way into Taime's chest. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."

"It's ok." Mir murmured. "Dead stay dead anyway." His tail hung limp by his side. "I can at least try to remember her."
