"To make sure nobody tries to kriff with us?" Mir suggested, his eyes squinted in a friendly manner. "If you are big and bad enough, nobody wants to do bad things to you."

"Well, to a certain extent, that is one part of it. It is not a weapon to be trifled with, after all," while his answer wasn't the one she was going to say, it was a bit amusing in its unexpectedness.

As Mir had probably not gotten to see a lightsaber really up close, Murah took out the one she carried with her and held it up for Mir to see, still unignited. "This weapon is a responsibility. Because it is so deadly, it is only when you are absolutely certain that there is no other resolution than to fight that you draw your weapon - and that the conflict is then resolved swiftly."

His blue eyes focused on the death in her hands. One day, death in his paws. "Well, as long as the other people know that, they won't kriff with you for the sake of kriffing. So... won't that meant that every fight becomes a matter of life and death?" He didn't seem to mind that too much. "If they know that drawing a weapon on us leads to death - theirs or ours, they will be more hesitant to do so?"

Murah nodded. "It does have that effect often, yes. Though for some, it will make you a target - because they view you as a skilled and deadly warrior to be tested against. Mandalorians think so, as do the Sith."

"Uh, so... better avoid them. Or then know how to fight." Mir conjectured. "So what are the Mandel-orios everyone's talking about? Are they some force sensitives too?"

"Warrior people," she said simply first, before continuing. "While they were once a race centered around a warrior culture, the original race has died out, but their culture lives on. Over 300 years ago, they attacked the Republic and the Jedi - this was the Mandalorian Wars. As far as I know, they have no training for their own people who are Force sensitive, though they tend to frown upon it, as they call it either lies or cheap tricks. Depends on the Mandalorian, really."

"Issee." Mir nodded, his ears perky and alert. "I take it didn't go well for them? We kriffed them for sure?" His lectures had emphasized that Force users always held an advantage in combat. "Did we?" he asked, sounding a bit suspicious. "Where are they now?"

She frowned slightly. "It didn't go to well, no, but it was a terrible price to pay. Revan was a Jedi war hero who dissented against the Jedi Order, and chose to go into all out war against the Mandalorians, committing many war crimes too in his pursuit of victory. He did defeat the Mandalorians, but it was... well... it is a long story, one that is not very pleasant. Needless to say, he had many Jedi who had followed him and the aftermath of the war was an internal strife for the Jedi." Murah made a mental note of acquiring some reading on the subject for Mir.

"The Mandalorians are still around, many of them have become warriors of fortune - or mercenaries if you want it less flashy. Currently, a group of them are waging a quest of revenge against the world of Bankor. You may have heard about this in the news...?"

"Uh, there was a peace treaty of sorts on Bankor? Something-something Empire and Republic not ganking each other anymore. Uh, fighting." The translation wasn't direct but had to serve. "That was a good thing, or they made sound it like that? I guess someone's still upset if mandel-oreos still fight." Mir rubbed hos brow with his paw, seemingly frustrated. "Why did they attack us in the first place? The mandels, not the Empire?"

"The peace treaty was written on Nar Shaddaa, but yes, a mutual agreement of non-agression between the Republic and the Empire." Murah didn't really fault Mir for not getting all the details. "As for the Mandalorians attacking us now, I don't know all the details, but there was something that happened to them on Bankor before that made them come for revenge this time. It's not a matter I've had the opportunity to learn too much about."

"Issee." he nodded, moving to scratch his ears wit his paw. "It's so very complicated. With bad people all over the place, doing things no-one really seems to understand."

"It's a big galaxy out there, and so much happening. But woudn't you say it's better to acknowledge that one doesn't know everything and ask questions, rather than to pretend to know it all and never ask?"

"Well, yes. Though I think all I have is questions." Mir admitted, sounding miserable.

"Nothing wrong with that, Mir. But sometimes, you must also find the answers yourself... or at least seek them out," she suggested. "As a Jedi, it is very often a duty to find answers to questions."

"Well. I guess that's the archives are for." he smirked, blinking his eyes slowly. "Or so the archivist seems to think. Though they don't always know which file to refer to."

"They seem to be convinced that all the answers lie there." Mir nodded, his ears flopping around even as he pointed at the archives. "I don't think I agree with them." He sounded perhaps a little bitter. "What do people who have lived with holorecords all of their life know about how things really are?"

"Hmm..." she paused and gave Mir a careful look. "I think that is a matter of different kinds of knowledge. While the records do hold knowledge about a great many things that exist in the galaxy, it does not write down experiences as often... which is a different kind of knowledge, wouldn't you say?"

"Probably." he nodded. "Not saying you don't need archivists. But they are not the only thing you need." Mir suggested carefully.

"In that case... I think I'll suggest you speak some more with Knight Corvin, or Knight Farissa perhaps? They both have knowledge that is difficult to put into the archives. You might be able to relate more to that?" she suggested in return.
