[Day 6 - Late Morning, Bazaar] My First Datapad!

[Esla Tor]

"No...but at least compared to me. Centa is really sparse with a lot of mountains, forests and plains. We also have less people. Most of the buildings we have aren't anywhere near as tall as the ones on Coruscant."

She smiled shyly. "Mmm...I guess that goes back to my first problem. I don't really have a datapad to keep such pictures. Maybe if this datapad has a camera or if I see if I could find them in books?"

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"It sounds like it's a pretty place, kinda like here." Big cities were nice and all, but dewbright was at home with its surroundings, and absolutely stunning for it. "With all those trees and mountains! Oh, does it snow?!"

"Ah..." His lips curled into a wry smile. "I should of thought of that." Luckily enough the were solving that problem. "Oh! Here they are." Silas said stopping in front of the datapad display. "Now to see if they have my brand..."

"Auratera and Coruscant are pretty too but I guess Centa is a different sort of pretty," she nodded at that. "It does snow and can get pretty cold sometimes. I guess that's where some of those layers might start to make more sense there than here or even home. It can really cold sometimes."

She stood beside Silas and looked through the display to see what was being offered. It did sort of look the same through but she imagined that Silas could separate the differences easily enough. She tilted her head slightly, looking lost and turning to Silas to see if the haystack indeed has the needle in it.

"That does make sense." He mused as he looked over the different datapads. "And what's snow like? I've never really seen it before." Snow wasn't somethign you really got on coruscant.

His search looked fruitful, and he turned to flash her a groin as he pointed one out. "This one is the same brand as mine, though a bit smaller. The JX74-slim. Want to try it out?"

Esla couldn't help but give Silas a big blink at the question, especially never needing to describe snow before. "Oh...Uhm, I guess it was a bit of a surprise the first time I've seen it. It's cold, fluffy and soft...Mmm, maybe like really soft mash root vegetables."

"Smaller...Mmm, it might be better?" She said, thinking back when they compared hands. "Sure, let's give it a try."

"Huh." Silas paused trying to figure out what that would feel like, probably a lot like ice but softer. "I suppose I really have to see it to know what it's like." He offered Aina a smile. "Though thanks for the description."

"Okay." Waving over a clerk, Silas asked him to get the datapad anin wuestion, and when done he handed it to Aina. "Well, what do you think?"

"Sorry...I guess I never thought about it very much, actually. It was the closest thing I could think of." Or maybe she just had mash potatoes on her mind. "It can be different, depending on when it falls. If it's a little warmer, it can make for easy packing. You can make snowballs or sculptures with it."

Esla took the datapad in her hands and tried it out by fiddling with it. It easily more portable and lighter, also most certainly a similar make as Silas's. She bobbed her head in easy approval and handed it back to the clerk. "I'll take it please," she said as she fished out some credits from her belt.

"Now we match." Silas declared with a grin as he fished out his own datapad. "Well almost."

"Snowballs and sculptures? Is that the kind of stuff you do for fun in the snow?" He asked, a little bit curious.

[Esla Tor]

Esla smiled triumphantly once the transaction was made and she had her very own datapad. She held it against Silas's datapad, albeit hers was still in some wrapping and packaging. That couldn't help but coax a giggle out of her. "Yay! I think it's pretty close!"

"Sometimes. Throwing snowballs at people isn't very nice...so I guess we're encouraged to make more sculptures and forts." She sighed. "But I think we're really expected to sweep and shovel it."

That brought a grin to Silas' lips. "Now let's go somewhere we can get you all set up!" That part was important too, and going to the cafe made it feel a little like a date?

"True, it doesn't sound very nice. But it does sound like it could be fun! Snow is soft after all so it shouldn't hurt." He grinned and stood to his full height. "Do you think we'll be able to make some snow sculptures at our next destination?"

Esla beamed with a smile after ogling the package on the datapad. It almost seemed like a holiday present, albeit bought with her own money. It looked almost too nice to open but she did buy it for a reason. She inclined her head in a whole-hearted nod and went with Silas's lead. It hadn't really occurred to her about setting it up...Didn't it work just out of the package?

She made a face about being snow not hurting, as she had been hit with some rather icy snowballs before. "That would be great if the Masters allow it. I guess we can't be looking for crystals all day there. I really think everyone will enjoy the snow, if they had a good day on the beach."

"Well, we can always ask once he get there, they let us play on the beach, so I don't think it will really be a problem." He grinned. "But you're right, I can't be the only one who has never seen the snow."

Their destination wasnt far, a cafe the passed on the way with a view of one of the many canals that ran through the city, and after they were seated Silas grinned across the table at Aina. "So, gonna open it?"

Esla tried to imagine what the gang might do with snow, although the imagery of snowball fights popped in her mind. Why did she think everyone was prone to snow fights again? "Even so, being on Coruscant for a while must make people miss it a bit..."

"Mmm.." She eyed the package for a moment of contemplation before tearing it open. Presents were meant to be enjoyed, right? Once the plastic and film was pulled off the datapad, she felt it in her hands. It was rather rare to see one that felt so new, without fingerprints littered on the screen. She looked about for the activation button before turning it on. "Oohh...what's next?"

"Yeah, I'd imagine so." Silas said with a nod. "Something as pretty as snow must be missed." He really didn't think of the cold and wet that went alot with it, that was probably a lot less entertaining.

He smiled as he watched her open it, new things were mmeant to be ccherished, and he had to make a mental note to wrap her dress in something before he delivered it. She would likely like that. "Well, we assign you as it's user. There are a few security features we can add too so not just anyone can use it witthout permission too. After that we add me as a contact, so we can send each other files and stuff like that."

"That's right..." She said in agreement, feeling that was probably obvious. "I never programmed these things to myself before. The ones they loan at the academy were already programmed for everyone."

Thankfully, setting the datapad up for herself was pretty simple with the software that came with it. She didn't personalize it very much, merely giving her identity and figuring out what to do for access. After, she was given a blank slate to play with. "Ohhh...how do I add people?"

"Like this." Rising to his feet he rounded the table to stand behind her, leaning over her shoulder so he could show her the best way. "It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it." Silas finished with a encouraging smile.

Esla turned to follow Silas with her gaze until he got behind her, staying put with her brand new toy. Something like that should have been easy to figure out but it's not like she was adding people to the Academy's datapads on loan. And just like that, Silas became the first person to be added to her contact list.

"Oh! That looks pretty easy, actually. Thank you!" She smiled warmly at him.

"No problem, Aina." Silas replied beaming a smile back at her. There was no way his gaze lingered a moment on her lips, right?

Walking around the table he sat back down. "Now we just need to find you some fun apps!"

Esla was about to speak up and ask if that would be allowed on her datapad but realized that was probably a silly question, especially when she was no longer using school property. This was her own datapad! She smiled faintly, rather unsure where to start in this brave new world of owning her own digital space.

"Oh...I was thinking of just sharing documents with you. What sort of other fun apps I could have? Um...like games?" She brought up at the first thing she could conjure up.

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Yeah, I could show you some of the games I play." Maybe they could even play together sometime. "There are other things as well though. Music apps, and things like spacebook."

"Maybe there are some related to any hobbies you might have?" Though he really didn't know what she did in her spare time.
