Meanwhile, Zanja was ruthlessly dismembering the fish. It smelled promising, but it was... inarguably slimy. "Eeesh," she muttered. Unlike Mir, she didn't quite have the right dental anatomy to crunch up bits like the head bones-and-all, so she set that aside to try cooking up later--it obviously had too much meat on it to throw out, at least if you didn't mind its eyes, which she didn't.

Hopefully Silas wouldn't be too disturbed by her exploration of the rest of the fish's innards. Stomach, intestines, that looked like a little fishy heart... ooh, what was this air filled thing? She held it up and squished it between her fingers experimentally--she'd never seen a fish's swim bladder before and couldn't quite figure out what she was looking at.

"Hey, do you lot know what this is? It can't be lungs, right? Fish haven't got any..."

Luckily for Zanja, and perhaps unluckily for Silas, he did have a core worlds education of sorts. Which did include the regular sort of biology, at least to a degree. "The swim bladder I think?" Silas replied fighting down the urge to shudder. Was digging through guts the normal way to clean a fish? Maybe he should ask Corvin.

Aina's catch did make a good distraction and he turned to cheer her on. "Great job, Aina!" This was followed by a quick. "Hurry up Mir and smack it in the noggin!"

Fortunately, Esla might have missed a majority of the gruesome dismemberment of the fish as she was preoccupied with reeling in her catch. She managed to pull it up to where she was standing and smiled triumphantly. Unfortunately, it was cut short when the fish started to flick its tail and sprayed her with water unexpectedly.

"Ooof!" She cried out and quickly brought the fish toward Mir's direction so he could do the rest.

At the very least, it seemed that they had a meeting of the minds at least? She bit down on her lower lip and gave it another tug as she fought with the creature that was underwater.

It wasn't a long struggle thankfully and she managed to pluck out a tan-coloured flatfish. It wasn't as large as the other fishes, seeing as she managed to do it on her own but it was something! "Oh!"

"Oh, pull it out, pull it out!" Mir jumped up and down as Elsa caught yet another fish. "Brinetail, I'll bleed for you once more I promise." he quipped with a voice quivering from excitement. "Imma gonna give it a knocking!" Mir grabbed his knife and once Esla had the fish on the ground, he pummeled the butt of his knife against the mishappen head of the flatfish ending its suffering. "Of flatty-flatty. You are probably tasty." Without a pausing Mir pushed his digits under the fish's gills, tugged back and eased his knife into the gap to sever the head from the body. "This is yours." he offered the head to Esla, holding it on his bloody paw.

"Nobody has to bleed for anything..." Esla murmured under her breath. Mir was a particularly strange one, she always thought, although that was probably more attribute by his customs. Still, catching a fish wasn't something to bleed over about. If someone was going to get hurt, she was happy to leave the fish in the ocean.

She couldn't help but wince at the fish receiving the brunt of the blow form the knife and the hasty dismemberment soon after. Fishes didn't emote very well but she could see that blank eye looking back at her. Potentially with anguish coloured by her imagination.

"Uhm, thank you, Mir..." She said as she received with the fish, holding it with only the tips of her digits as the tail continued to move with its final muscle spasm. It wasn't tasteful but she meant it when it came to Mir handling one part of the dirty work. "I have to scale it after, right?"

"That's three." Silas offered as he looked up from his work. "Means we almost have enough. I guess that old man knew what he was talking about when he ooffered us these lures." They'd doubted him too which wasn't really polite. Looking over at Esla he smiled.

"I can help you with that part if you like, I've just got the handle on scaling fiish." He'd just finished his.

Esla smiled sheepishly with a coy shrug, wondering if it was probably just beginner's luck or maybe the Force. The latter would be all too convenient of an answer.

"Please and thank you," she nodded at Silas, thankful for the offer. "I wouldn't mind learning too, I guess I might have missed that part earlier."

With her attention on fish guts and Mir's behaviour, it was hard to miss the lesson from the intestines.
