(D0 A) Not a Master

[O'vala Aeser]

"Uh, yeah! Ataru flips and stuff! And they're fun. Not sure if I started flipping before I started learning Ataru or after. Hm..."

[Taime Jorel]

He kept the confusion off his face, but with effort. "How does that work?"

[O'vala Aeser]

"How does what work? The flipping? Ataru? Both? How I came to do it?"

[Taime Jorel]

He waited and then nodded. "All of it. I'm Niman trained, so we don't do...flipping or anything. How does it all work?"

[O'vala Aeser]

"Oh. Uh, you kind of just whack them in a bunch of different ways and overwhelm their defenses."

[Taime Jorel]

He looks puzzled. "So why flipping? Couldn't you just move around them? How does the flipping help?"

[O'vala Aeser]

"Well, you can like flip over them! Or like jump up high and have it be really awkward for them. All about the footwork."

[Taime Jorel]

"Ohhhhhh." It all dawns on him. "So its about changing the battlefield over and over. That's super cool."

[O'vala Aeser]

"Yeah, I guess it's a constant shift while Niman is a bit more, uh, standard. I'd say Ataru is definitely a riskier style!"

[Taime Jorel]

He cocked his head to the side. "I mean, Niman is about using the Force to compensate for a lack of size. Ataru sounds like using speed for the same thing. I wouldn't say they're that different at the core."

[O'vala Aeser]

"Oh, I guess that's one way to look at it." O'vala tilted her head and smiled. "You're pretty smart then, huh?"

[Taime Jorel]

Apparently not, cause I can't seem to follow this conversation. "Uhh, I wouldn't say I'm smarter than anyone else. It just seems like two things that go together. Not everyone has the same strengths so of course Force styles would be there to compensate. Everyone can bring their strengths to the fore instead of being confined to just one way. "

[O'vala Aeser]

"Hm, I think you're just being very humble. That all sounds really insightful to me." O'vala shifted in her place. "But sometimes people just use the forms for other stuff. Like that big guy, Garrick Lorne, just uses his size to bash people aside with Djem So while other people use Shien to be more sneaky and stuff."

[Taime Jorel]

He listens intently. "Well, sadly I likely wont be able to do something like Garrick, but hopefully I can get skilled enough to work with what I have."

He slid right by the humble comment, not sure what to do with it.

[O'vala Aeser]

O'vala nodded along. "I see. Well, if you're really good at using the Force, then Niman shouldn't be a problem at all then!"
