[Day 6 - ME] Dangerously Dark Dinner Dating

Byron waited at an upscale cafe he had learned about in his walk the previous day and after some brief research he found the reviews to be favorable so he invited his new best Sith friend for a meal and a chance to pick her mind on a few things going on, plus it would give him a reason to ignore whatever went down in the dark places...

Drascovina was fashionably late, of course. What else would she be?

It was perhaps a quarter of an hour after the expected time that she made her arrival, striding casually into the cafe as though she owned the place. "Good evening, Byron." She said, greeting him with one of her edged smiles. "This cafe looks good. Might it be possible that Jedi have some taste after all?"

Rather than her usual green and white uniform, she wore a dress in black and red.

"Keep that secret between us," he rose and greeted her and even pulled her chair for her.

"I even know the house wine caome from Alderaan." Which ended the extent of his sophisticated ways.

Her chin tilted up, a pleased smile on her face, as Byron pulled out the chair. "A secret, you say." Drascovina said. "From the SIth, or from the Jedi."

"Tch. Alderaanians." A sneer flickered across Drascovina's face. "If it's anything like them, it will be weak and overly sweet." She smiled. "Nevertheless, I will permit you to order a glass for me."

"Why bot both, I trust the Order but I do like to keep my social life private," he responded.

Byron looksd at the menu and then waited for the server. Once they arrived he said, "May we have a bottle of the Sweet Horizon Cham-paga-ne, made in the hills of the House Rist region."

Nailed it. Jedi Cop is classy.

One elegant eyebrow went up. "So this is social, not educational? How very interesting. Although I do expect there is some overlap."

The corner of Drascovina's lips twitched wildly at his pronunciation. "A bottle?" She smirked.

“I figured that is how you do it right?” he replied honestly.

“I am going to let you in on a secret, I have never ordered wine before, so if a bottle is too much then do say so. Otherwise, I stand by the choice because it sounds fancy. Or at least fun, and fun is a good reason to do anything.”

“So what is going on with Team Sith, staying busy and staying out of trouble?”

"Is that so?" Drascovina smirked. "Well then. This will be both a social and a learning experience. And, perhaps it will be..." She pursed her lips for a moment, "-fun."

She tilted her head, regarding him. "Why, my dear Byron." She fluttered her eyelashes exaggeratedly. "If we weren't getting into trouble, would we be Sith?" She shook her head. "No. Today was a good day. Very enlightening." The head tilt returned. "And what of Team Jedi?"

“You know us, we spent the better part of the day meditating and then the other part making sure everyone was at peace and happy, the usual. But enlightening, how so? Discover some dark side secret to rule them all?” he mused, sort of oblivious at the surreal quality of the conversation.

“Though I have spent most of my time following up on a rather serious issue for the locals… people have been vanishing… in troubling numbers. Tthey thought it was the killiks but thankfully they were not involved.”

Drascovina smirked. "That does sound like Jedi. And no. But we did commune with the Dark Side. It was... intense." For perhaps the first time since meeting her, she seemed shaken, just for a instant, a shiver passing through her body.

The moment passed. "And that sounds like Jedi Cop, too. Helping those who can't help themselves." Her tone was equal part amused, equal parts sneering. She flipped over her menu. "Can they really not help themselves?"

“I see it as performing a service for others, helping others that are not myself,” he said confidently.

“I want to make sure they feel safe and they are reunited with their loved ones, if possible.”

"Mmm, yes, that's very interesting." Drascovina said, her attention obviously on the menu. "But what about the good stuff? Punched any faces? Smashed heads into things?"

A waiter returned with a bottle of wine. He uncorked it, offering the cork to Byron to smell.

"Well sadly no punching yet, not since I handed a trio of Mandalorians what we call a Lower Wards handshake. But, I'm hoping we get a chance once we find out who is behind these disappearances... might even have to draw the old sword if they prove actually dangerous," he responded.

Byron smelled the cork unsure of what he is supposed to smell and then said, "Uhh... smells good, please begin with the Lady."

"A trio of Mandalorians? My word." Drascovina's lips curled up. "Well, if your investigations do turn to violence, I would be glad to hear about it. Who knows, I may be willing to lend a hand, especially if you find someone who isn't talking. I can be very..." the smile grew decidedly cold, "-persuasive."

"Very good, sir." The waiter poured a small glass for Drascovina. She took it in her hand. Frowning, she swirled it in the glass, then took a sniff, then a small sip. "Acceptable." She finally said, her tone airy. The waiter poured a bit more in her glass, and then poured for Byron as well.

"Jedi Cop and Sith Cop, now that is a story worth telling, deal," he replied warmly.

Byron took a sip, coughing slightly at his first taste of wine... or alcoholic beverage period. He smiled weakly and said, "Classy."

"Sith cop." Drascovina laughed softly, musically. Coldly. "As I understand, it's often a technique to have one be a 'good cop', and the other be a 'bad cop'. At least we'd have no trouble dividing the roles."

She took a sip of her wine. "I believe I shall have the crab cakes." She set the menu down. "You may order for me."

"So you get to be the nice one and I get to be the punchy one, that works for me," Byron mused.

He then looked at the menu and then ordered something that looked like seafood.... and something that took hime a few moments to pronounce but he assumed was something with eat in it. Thankfully he relied on his unearned confidence in his abilities to see him through this meal ordering situation.

"So is your family strong in the Force? Not to many Force lineages among the Jedi, but there are some like the Shan family that produce Jedi at high rates. I don't think my own family had such an esteemed lineage but I am told it can skip a few generations."

The waiter took the orders, and took the menus away.



Drascovina smiled, but her eyes narrowed. "If you think that I will be the nice one, I fear that you've gone dreadfully wrong somewhere. If I interrogate a prisoner, I don't ask for information. I take it." Her smile briefly became a fierce grimace.

She relaxed, smiling more normally once more. "Indeed it is. The Malveaux family is proud to have many Sith in its bloodline. It is a sign of both our service to the Empire... and to our power." She studied him through narrowed eyes. "If you'd remained in the Empire, you might have become someone of some importance, you know."

“But you have such a pleasant smile, and I already called punchy cop. So I have no doubt you could take the information you need and maybe just maybe I might need those skills to help solve this case if you don’t mind helping people because it is the right thing to do,” he replied with a smile.

Byron frowned at the latter bit and said tersely, “I am someone, I am Byron Mik, Jedi Knight to be… and that is enough for me.”

"Oh dear." Drascovina murmured. "I have to choose between helping people, and not forcing information from people? How horrid!" She laughed softly.

Her eyes narrowed as she looked across the table at Byron. "Yes. But how much more could you be?"
