[Eir]

“I know, Master Jaric can lend you a training saber, and you can take a crack at me.” After the last few days, it would feel good to hit something.

[Kerren Sek]

He eyed her warily, wondering if this was some sort of scheme she was roping him into. Maybe she'd get hurt and would ask for the masters to punish him, or send him away.

"Are you sure?" he asked after a moment's silence.

[Eir]

"Sure," she didn't have the sith's misgivings, but if she knew what he'd been through, she'd probably understand. "We can have Master Jaric observe." Eir wasn't practised in the arts of deception, and her expression was open and honest. She considered egging him on, are you afraid to hit a girl? but the pureblood was already cagey, and if she pushed him, she might have to defend herself for real.

[Kerren Sek]

Great. The master who really wants me dead. Despite his misgivings, Kerren decided to try this 'trust' thing the Jedi had preached at him earlier that day.

"Very well. How do you jedi usually do these spars...? I'm just asking, as on Korriban it was usually to unconsciousness, or if someone yielded."

[Eir]

"To yield, I have other things I want to do today," her tone was lighthearted.

[Kerren Sek]

He nodded, and followed her to find the stern Jedi master. Jaric seemed as enthusiastic as always at this scenario, but agreed to supervise the match between the two of them.

Kerren gave the training saber a few trial swings to check its fit and handle. "Ok... ready?" he looked to Eir, falling into the recognizable first stance of Ataru.

[Eir]

"Ready," she answered, igniting her training saber and adopting the more conventional Soresu stance. Eir let her senses stretch out around her. As she could see him, hear him, even smell him, she felt him in the movement of the Force, reaching for its guidance.

True to Ataru, Kerren was quick to leap into action. Soresu had strong defenses, but he seemed familiar enough with it to know that he needed to counter it before Eir would have the chance to react to his speed. And he landed a rough hit on her shoulder.

[Eir]

Eir twisted, bring her training saber up to block the blow, distributing its strength somewhat. The Force flowed around her as she took a more guarded stance, prepared to be hit once again as she examined her opponent's technique. "So. why'd you leave, anyway?"

Kerren grimaced, his saber spinning in his hand before it quickly slipped past Eir's defenses again. "Why do you want to know?" he sneered, more guarded than before, moving his saber between them in a defensive manner as if to put distance between himself and her questioning.

The heavier blow took its toll on girl, and she could feel herself wavering. "All right, all right, yield." She sighed. Well, that was useless, now he just thinks I'm a boastful idiot. She hadn't even had the chance to swing her saber.

Kerren backed off, taking a quick step away. "... Soresu form," he nodded, focusing on things he felt more comfortable with. "It's your preferred form, yes?"

[Eir]

"Yeah," she grunted, deactivating the training saber and clipping it to her belt, and in front of Master Jaric, too.

[Kerren Sek]

"It is solid," he said. Probably the closest he might come to giving a compliment. "But don't be afraid to go on the offensive." There was more he wanted to say, but well, the presence of Jaric made him think twice.

Jaric however gave a nod to the two. Nothing the Sith was saying was out line, and this in itself was valuable learning for both of them.

"...Maybe we can spar again another time?" he followed up as it seemed the master wasn't going to berate him.

[Eir]

Eir blinked in surprise, she certainly hadn't expected that from the defensive pureblood, "uh, sure. We've got a week of travel time coming up, so," she trailed off with a shrug.

[Kerren Sek]

Defensive he was, but fighting and sparring was at least something that seemed to be approved of judging by this interaction, and it was something he understood well enough.

"So why do you want to know my reasons for coming here?" he repeated his question from the fight, though calmer now than he had been then.

[Eir]

"I do, actually," she retrieved the nutrient bar she'd been planning on eating before her idea had distracted her, and gestured for Kerren to sit with her, tearing into the packet with her teeth. She was hungry.

[Kerren Sek]

"I know you do," his accent made him sound a little terse, which wasn't nescessarily what he intended. "I'm asking why."

[Eir]

"Oh right," she answered through a mouthful of food, covering her mouth with one hand, she blamed her distraction on being hungry. Swallowing, "curiosity, or maybe just being nosey. It's not every day a," she indicated to the pureblood, "Sith joins up." Eir shrugged, "of course, nothing's been normal since we got here," she took another bite.

[Kerren Sek]

"Nothing's been normal?" he was curious at that, as he wasn't quite sure what was 'normal' for the jedi.
