[Mess Hall, Evening 0] Refuel

[Byron Mik]

"Not many, but it is first come first served," he replied coyly.

[Zanja]

Zanja snorted faintly. "Well, don't make remarks about how much other people eat if you don't like the answers, then." She slurped some juice and half-grinned at Byron. "I guess if I were a more perfect Jedi I'd be supposed to sustain myself on the Force, but since I'm not, good tip." With a very slightly nervous chuckle, she added, "Though who knows how much time we'll have to think about tacos during the initiate trials."

[Byron Mik]

"Nonsense, it is always taco time," he replied.

"Don't tell me you're nervous?"

[Eir]

Not my fault you're a bottomless pit, Eir refrained from countering, her food was getting cold. "What, you're not nervous?"

[Byron Mik]

“No. A Jedi does not want, if I am worthy to be a Jedi then it will be, if not well then, I can open a taco truck and make tacos for other people and spend my time helping in other ways. But seriously, I have trust in the Force. We will all find the appropriate Destiny that will help us make the Galaxy a better place either as Jedi or as something else.”

“Knowing that, why be nervous, I have nothing to lose,” he said calmly.

[Eir]

Eir scowled at what she would consider to be a reductionist attitude, if she'd known to call it that. "I am perfectly comfortable knowing I want to do my best. If that makes me unworthy, so be it."

[Byron Mik]

“Why wouldn’t you, a Jedi is expected to be there best at all times. But as a wise Master once told me, one can do their best, they can do everything right and still come up short, that is not a failing, that is simply the flow of life. Doing your best and achieving success are two different things,” he said with a smile.

“Does that make sense?”

[Zanja]

"There's just a lot we don't know. A little bit of nerves keeps you sharp, though." Zanja shrugged. "You can't be too laid back or you might miss a trick, right?"

[Eir]

Narrowing her eyes at Byron, "no," she shook her head. It made sense in that she understood his meaning, she just didn't understand how that was supposed to make her feel less nervous. She found herself nodding in agreement to Zanja's points, however.

He just nodded and went back to eating without a reply giving a nod of agreement.

[Zanja]

"Anyway, in case Trial Number One is surviving in the wilderness with only six feet of string and a spoon..." Zanja picked up her soup bowl, "might as well get in a good last meal."

[Eir]

"Can't argue with that," Eir finished her stir fry, turning the tray so the cake was in front of her.
