The joint gave way.

The pilot made a valiant effort to keep the walker upright, but the damage was just too severe. It tottered this way and that, until a leg gave way entirely. With a might crash, it fell to the ground, fire erupting from the main body.

They had won. The people were safe.

Zizzy's saber deactivated as she walked over to the other trainees. "Nice work all of you. Glad I could keep it distracted while you took it apart."

She looked back in the direction of the large group of refugees. "We just saved all of those people, let's make sure we get them to safety." At some point there would be time to reflect on having to use the dark side. For the moment they could be happy that everyone had emerged from the combat unscathed.

Taime nodded. "You did far more than that Zizzy." He said with a serious face. Looking at the people, he couldn't quite find it in him to be saddened about his choices at the moment. He knew it was wrong, but he also knew that seeing all those people safe filled him with...a sense of hope.

He walked over to them, saying, "Is everyone all right? Does anyone need a medic or anything? We're safe now."

Esla was glad to shut off her lightsaber when the fight was over. The lightsaber was a Jedi's badge of honour but it was unfortunate whenever they had to use it. It was unfortunate that their enemies didn't know peace but at least peace was found, somewhat. She clipped the weapon to her belt and signalled with her hands to the refugees that it was safe to come out. The enemies had been vanquished, even if the battle was far from over.

Some of the refugees had already moved along. But some had not; the sick, the young, and the elderly. And with them, others, who'd stayed to ensure that those who couldn't keep up would still have the help they would need.

An old man, muscles trembling slightly, gave the Jedi a grave nod. "Thank you... Jedi." He said. There was a chorus of cheers from the others.

Esla didn't want to smile, as it seemed a rather bad form in this time of crisis, but she did nevertheless. At the very least, it was good to see high spirits in the civilians and with that came hope that there will be a brighter future after this. She smiled warmly at them and merely gave a small bow with a hand on her heart to show that the gratitude was returned in kind. Their thanks weren't needed, but it was ever appreciated in the young jedi.

It seemed that the sounds of the cheers were gradually fading. Slowly, they awakened, finding themselves back in the crystal caves...
